148 Viewing

Thread Starter
Hehehe you guys crack me up. There are 148 people viewing the ski forum at the end of May. I'm going up and making my last turns of the season at A-Basin this Saturday. I've got my deposit on my Colorado Pass for next season but it's time to get the mountain bike out for awhile. BTW...I'll still be one of the 140 people viewing in August November is only 4 months away.

Yep....skiing on the brain....

One thing I was wondering, is how they count thread views on here. They must only count logged in member views.......there are usually 1000+ guests reading this board, and there would be MANY more thread views recorded if they were being counted.

Having built web applications like this, they would have a database table that stores the number of times a thread is read which is incremented by one every time it's opened.

But I would think they are only counting board members....otherwise the numbers don't make any sense.

In vBulletin, thread views are updated once per hour and are unique views, meaning if you view a thread one time or one hundred times, it will still count as only one view. Guest counts include logged out members, actual guests and a whole sort of various spiders and search engine agents. Since these guests are scattered throughout the forum and not viewing every thread, the view counts make a bit more sense:

well, considering it's about 2 weeks from hitting triple digits in temperature in most of the U.S., i'd say there's not enough lurking on here and dreaming of the next day it's like this:

I'm Mister White Christmas
I'm Mister Snow
I'm Mister Icicle
I'm Mister Ten Below
Friends call me Snow Miser,
Whatever I touch
Turns to snow in my clutch
I'm too much!

[Chorus]
He's Mister White Christmas
He's Mister Snow

[Snow Miser]
That's right!

[Chorus]
He's Mister Icicle
He's Mister Ten Below

[Snow Miser]
Friends call me Snow Miser,
Whatever I touch
Turns to snow in my clutch

[Chorus]
He's too much!

Ah.....so, are you saying that guests are tracked by IP address or some other means?

I would assume IP, but I'm not sure. Also, I don't know what constitutes a "unique view" and how long it's consider unique. Probably based on the session length, but again I'm not sure.
