In case you needed another reason not to smoke...

A pack of smokes at the Glacier Lodge Beer & Wine Store in Whistler: $10. Yikes!

But that's Canadian money. Isn't that about a dollar fifty in US currency?!?!

That's exactly right! So just come on up here with your Visa card and don't worry, they'll do the conversion for you! When you get your statement you'll find out exactly what it was.

That's it! Just keep on puffing and keep shortening the lift lines for us non-smokers!

Hey , I dont mind all those people smoking at the resorts, just makes it so I dont have to skate as hard off the lifts to reach the untracked stuff because they are hacking to death instead of chasing me into the white beyond!

ah yes! Again we see the holier-than-thou attitudes of non-smokers with their agenda to make others live the way THEY think we should live. I smoke. I shouldn't. I will continue to smoke until I feel damned good and ready to quit. I make every effort in the world to smoke away from others. if I notice my smoke traveling in the direction of a non-smoking individual, I try to change positions so that the smoke doesn't reach them. This is so even outside where I shouldn't have to do this, but I do. it's just courtesy.
But do we see the same courtesy from others? No. I have seen some people who are about 40 feet away from me, walking past, who will change the direction of their walk, come over close to me and fake a great big cough and walk off with a grin. But then I suppose there are some of you here who think this is ok.
Ciggy co's have lied to us, so have the anti-smoking people lied to us... just as much.
Now, go take a few runs and be happy.

Smoking is for weak-willed, nicotine addicts. I have no quarter for any of them. When I am standing in the lift line and have to breath in these addict's smoke, I sure as hell have a right to be pissed. I hate it when I breath in snowmobile exhaust... ahh, the fresh mt. air... but I realize this is necessary for patrol and crew to get around on the mnt. Smokers, on the other hand, have no excuse. They make a choice to remain a smoker, fill the air and their lungs with noxious substances, raise our medical costs with their illnesses, yellow their teeth and stink up their homes and cars. Peeeeee Yewwwwwww!!!!! You stink!!!

Remember Morton Downey? The talk show host who would blow smoke into the camera and taunt anti-smokers? I guess you know the rest of that story. He got lung cancer and was soon seen doing tv spots supporting the anti-smoking cause. Poor fool! He got his and many other smokers will get theirs in the end. Puff away if you will, but the laws will soon have you all doing it where it belongs.... where others never have to breath a whiff of it.

AtomicMark- I just love ya! I love it when people prove my point for me! I agree with you on most points. This is why I take every effort to do as I posted above. but if you come over out of your way as that lady did, I'll blow it right in your face. Otherwise I would take every effort to respect your wishes not to breath my smoke.
Yes, smoking is bad for you, but read both sides, not just the side that supports your own view point. Read "Slow Burn" By Don Oakely. he doesn't claim smoking is harmless. He reveals that lies have been committed on both sides of this issue.
But then, I would bet $10 you will never read it. I'm sure you're a great guy and a very good skier, and I can't find it in my heart to hate you or any others here. Bob

That's about $6.67 US=$10.00 Canadian. Still a rip off considering you are over paying so you can shorten your life and your skiing days.

Think of it this way. A Canadian "C" note for a carton of cigs !! Now I certainly have a lot more I can do with a $100.00 at Whistler, than have it go up in smoke !

The book does not try to say smoking is harmless. That's not the focus of the book.

Is the BC Bud any cheaper in Whistler than in the US......

I sincerely feel sorry for you because it sounds like you're really hooked on those things and I know what that's like for I used to smoke 1 1/2 packs a day. It took 7 times but I was finally able to quit them. You are so right about the lies. I went to a stop smoking course with my wife for moral support when she wanted to quit and the things we found out would curdle your blood! If you ever get a chance or can find a copy, watch "Marlboro Man". This was a video that was bought my the tobacco companies and they destroyed every copy (they thought). But after a number of years, a pirated copy surfaced.

Another interesting fact I found out about a dozen years ago was this. The tobacco companies wanted to develop new markets and so they marketed "nicotine strong" cigarettes in Asia and Africa. Then after a few years when the market has grown to a good size, they changed the amount of nicotine in each cigarette by a sizeable margin, so those smokers now had to smoke, and of course, buy more cigarettes to satisfy their need for nicotine. ...........Wicked greed or what, eh?

I hope you soon find the desire and support to quit and wish all smokers were as considerate as you. Heck, I wish non-smokers were as considerate as you. I'm sure we do some pretty inconsiderate things that irritate others.

I don't think others should necessarily live as I do... I just don't want to breath cig. smoke, ever, period.
