I disagree a little bit. Off shore production is sort of 'old-hat' by now for most industries (has it been 5 years since K2 led the charge by moving production to China?). I think the bigger current attraction to company's in general is trying to gain a foothold/access into the Chinese consumer market. It's hard for me to think of China as a consumer market (especially for skis and fishing poles), but given China's balance of payments and potential for growth and huge population, there are lots of reasons to believe that it should be. We'll know for sure when we start seeing major ski resorts being built in China.
Producing in China is still important for K2. They have the first mover advantage.
