Sugarloaf just posted they are planning to run the Timberline lift (goes to the snowfields) tomorrow.

So I'm going up. Anybody else going to be there?

I'm leaving (no computer).
If anyone else is there tomorrow ..
If you see rossi b3's (brownish-orange), grey hair & beard, gray Giro helmet,
black pants, blue-gray coat or blue&black windbreaker,
gray pack, give a holler.

It was beautiful. Lots of snow, firm at the top (maybe too firm early, good later), soft lower down.
Did a few cruisers for warm-up and later to rest, but mostly bumps.
Gondola line was the run of the day, in my opinion. Big, round bumps on a pretty steep slope.
Bubblecuffer was a little too difficult for fun - the bumps were more angular, with deeper and sharper ruts.
THe smaller bumps were fun too (next to and under Spillway chair, for example.)

After finally getting up to the top (snowfields) it was an anti-climax. The terrain off Spillway chair was better.

If you go, check the weather. (Obviously). IIRC, the forecast wasn't great. I think the snow could stand up to rain, but not rainy is more fun.

The 29th is supposed to be their last day - and I think it will be. There were not very many skiers today. They are ramping up on conference season (since this is an extra week there were confs scheduled; the "Main Parks and Recreation Annual Meeting" was taking place todya.);

Thanks for the report. Pretty much what I expected. Not looking forward to the long drive, though.

Yah, it's what, 6 hours for you? Four is bad enough.

I stayed at the Herbert Grand in Kingfield. Cheap, clean, comfortable matress, free morning coffee, about 17 miles to the hill. Went up the night before, skied Th and returned afterwards. Had to stop and take a nap in the car just before i got on the Turnpike.

Great pix of the loaf! Back in the day we took a week's vacation there for multiple years in a row! Thanks for bringing back some fond memories!!
