I supposed I could have driven north for one more day but just couldn't pull the logistics together. First week not skiing since early December. Man, I am I bored. It's going to be a long seven or eight months.

Plan your off-season training.

Last weekend was like that for me, three day weekend with Patriot's Day. Man the weekends go slow when you don't make plans to do something!

And I was training both days in the morning, doesn't fill much of a day up a 1 hour workout.

You won't be sorry if you haul your butt up to Sugarloaf one more time! Sorry, no pics, but it was absolutely amazing today. 4-5 feet of snow covering even the bottom of the mountain. Temps in the 60's and bright sun is hitting it hard, but it'll still be there for at least another few days.

Maybe this is blasphemy, but skiing is not all that there is. For me mtn biking and hiking more than fill the gap. You need summer sports. FWIW. Otherwise, buy a second home in NZ or Chile.

This year, for the first time in over 30 years of skiing, I was glad for the season to end. I didn't even get 100 days (lift served) in this season. But, on the up side, I hit the single track for a training ride (no climbs, not yet, anyway) today.

I thought about heading up somewhere this weekend as well, but just couldn't get myself in a skiing mood with 60+ degree temps in Massachusetts today. Slept in, put my ski stuff away, took the bike out for a nice ride... First weekend since sometime in November where I haven't been skiing, so yeah, it felt weird. The skiing off-season won't hit me for a few more months, at least.

Exactly my sentiment.

Once the summer activities takes hold. It'll be November before I even think about skiing. And even then, I'll still be thinking "should I try to squeez another kayak trip this weekend?" even when the shore is already covered by snow!

April and November, the two "transition" months when I'm not ready to let go of one yet eager to start the other.

Funny Kevin that I just cussed out my bike as I hit my head hard on the seat (bikes hang upside down from garage ceiling near my workbench) as I was just finishing hot waxing the skis for a ski tomorrow. As I was rubbing my head I felt the tires (which were flat) and realized that the bikes needed new chains, crank lubes, brake calibration, wheelsets balanced etc., etc.

While we have a few more weekends of lift service, the thought of the bikes and some summer century’s and a few mountain single tracks have me thinking that perhaps change over will not be so bad…we just need to stay active.:

Eight feet of snow in April and nearly 4 ft of that just a few days ago ... couldn't pass that one up. Best skiing of the year.

Lift service ends next weekend, but what a way to go out...

Got the bike all tuned up and ready to go. I will try to make it at least once a month to Kton for riding.

bottom line is you can't lose either way with weather like this (New England)

I still vote for getting out there though

Well, I took my kid for the park yesterday and did some balancing exercises on the picnic table while my kid play. I'm at an image where I'm not self-consious and really don't care if other people think what I do is weird.

Did a bunch of yard work today. I like yard work to get out in the fresh air and get a bunch of exercise and still feel like I accomplished something.

Skied yesterday and for the first hour today then went to watch my son race our 568whp Honda Civic for the first time this season. One season ends and another begins.

We've been out of it for so long here. It was mid 80s yesterday and will be the same today. I've already cleaned my MTB and my roadie a few times each. Rebuilt the rear hub on my MTB last week. Been working on finishing the basement, but didn't do much this weekend because the weather was too nice (in a summer sort of way).

Not to self promote... but I have a website made for wasting time. If you have this one open too, you'll pretty much be able to talk about skiing until next season.
like my friend chris says: if you have time, why not waste it?
