Candide Thovex hurted

Thread Starter
Candide Thovex hit the flat and crashed badly last thursday on a huge jump (said around 45 m long), in La Cluzaz.
He broke a verterbrae (L1). He went to chirurgy today and everything seems ok. he's expected to fully recover.
Link in french. (I guess Newschooler is all over it.)

That's gotta hurt!
Not enough speed. Ironically theres a thread on TGR about a guy (seems more than one) who busted his back going too fast on a jump who overshot the landing zone.

Edit: Never mind, I see the landings a ridge. Had he landed to either side he would have been o.k. Ouch! That's gotta hurt!
Your edit also failed to get it right.

Glad it sounds as if he's expected to recover fully though, that one was as scary on video as Dumont's.

It looked like he landed right in the middle of one of those spine jumps from the first vid. I watched the second vid to see what actually happened.

Few jumpers carry his finesse, I hope he recovers quickly and manages to keep that confidence up.

Good Luck, Candide.

Ouchh!! That's why I don't have the guts to go on gap jumps.

This reminds me of Chad's Gap, where Tanner Hall failed to get enough speed and didn't reach the landing zone, breaking both ankles and rupturing a spleen.

The danger of gap jumps.... tst tst.

Actually, I think you're right.

But the distance travelled is still huge.

Man. The shock from hitting the flat from that height and speed. Ouch.

Good Luck, Candide.
I agree SAMURI he just has that extra something in the air. I hope he returns the same. It had to happen sooner or later. Every year he just seemed to be going bigger and bigger.
