I desided on the 185 length because a good ski expert told me the 181 length was probably made for recreational skiers. However, Im probably closer to a total beginner than a FIS racer but lets see how they work next year.
I don´t quite understand the Blizzard race ski philosophy. This year (06/07) they had 177, 182, 185, 189, and 192 cm GS. They were pretty much different, dimensions, radiuses, tails. No differentiation in stiffness, just a uniform "EC stiffness" (and, besides, some probably stiffer and individually tuned WC versions for those very few top-level racers on the skis).
When delivering the skis last fall, my friend who was the man responsible for the distribution of all race Blizzards in this country was said there were "only two GS models: 182 and 192 cm". To his surprise, the rest should have been "Zwischenmodelle", sort of supplementary models added to the women´s 182 and men´s 192 cm.
(I ordered and got 189 cm which I liked better than 185 and 192 and found that my atypical ski was the only one without base structure... Apart from that I found the ski OK and was/am satisfied.
For the next season, they seem to have reduced the offer to W 177 and 182 cm (officially 25 m) and M 185 and 192 cm (27 m). I haven´t had the chance yet to test them.
