I've never tried skiblades, but I think I'd like to. I'm just a beginning skier so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I'm an experienced figure skater, and it seems to me that you could do all kinds of great skating tricks on the snow with them (assuming, of course, that such a thing interests you! :-) The closest thing I've seen to what I have in mind is the (virtually extinct I guess) discipline of "ballet skiing" (there are some videos on youtube). However, it seems that even with the relatively short skis they used, a lot of those moves look very awkward and difficult (such as crossovers, for example, since the long tails get in the way), and these would be greatly facilitated with short skiblades. For this sort of thing, steep slopes and lots of speed are not necessary, so the short length of the skiblades would not appear to be a problem.
(I'm relatively new here, and I'm not sure what kind of responses I'm going to get, so maybe I'd better put my asbestos suit on! :-)
