What, the high expectations followed by higher disappointment? In a month you'll be frantically talking about when the Rocket is going to show up & save the season.

How about "Yankee Game Spoiler"

Thank you for ruining the replay last night. The Yanks were f'in behind and I left the room ....

: : : : cause' I knew who won ...

90% of the enjoyment of the game is in the suspense!

Didn't listen to the radio on the way home from work so I wouldn't overhear the results .....

But, nooooooooooooooooooooooo!

The Sox shall rise again!

Yep, the Sox are one game back with a mere 161 games to go. Time to hit the panic button!

Doesn't this just about sum up every Red Sox season, except 2004, in the last 90 years?

Red Sox fans loved & charished their shared misery. Whining and moaning about single plays in games decades old gave their meaning life. 2004 has changed all that & many Sox fans are lost not knowing which emotions to embrace.
I got somethin' for you to embrace, Rio! Forget the bleachers! I'll meet any stinkin' Yankees fan on the hill anyhwere, anytime to 'discuss' the rivalry over a Chinese Downhill. "It is the only way."

You really shouldn't post results in the thread title. I don't care either way for baseball but some do.

Well, if we're all being redundent..... Yankees and Sox suck and so does the entire AL with their wussy DH rule. The Pirates won their opener and it will be the last time this year they'll have a winning record. After 3 games they'll be 1 game under .500 and all down hill from there.

Anyways, MLB sucks and the NHL playoffs are about to begin. Let's go Pens, bring the Cup back to the Burgh.

Yuki,
The best part of being stationed in Hawaii was betting on the Monday night football game with the new arrivals at the EM club (when you had already watched the 6 o'clock news).

It was opening day, not the World Series.

Yes, it does, but it also sums up every Cubs season for the last 97 or so years!

Dude, if I remember correctly, wasn't your sesason almost canceled like eighteen thousand times? The NHL commish is worse at player relations than Bud Selig, the Finals drew a three-something rating (worse than Dancing with the Stars, no joke ), and the face of the league is some kid named Sidney. I'm not a NASCAR fan, but they at least have a product that people ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT!!!!! For God's sake, the only people who go to hockey games anymore are the immediate family of the players. (Let's compare: World Series vs. NHL Finals)..... World Series > NHL Finals ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!!!!:

I don't know about your assertion about the season being cancelled. I don't care about the commissioner. I don't care if the sport is unpopular with the great masses. It's just a lot more fun for me to watch then the 161 game season of watching paint dry call MLB played by a bunch of overpaid prima donnas that are bigger then the sport and dominated by a few big market teams. Hey, to each his own and I should have really stayed out of this thread. Who am I to rain on jame's smack talk and the hallowed Yankee/Sox rivalry? It's just that I'm compelled to consistency since I obviously have nothing to contribute of any real meaning.

Packers suck too, I'll take Sid the kid over old man Farve any day.

Dude, are there any hills in WI greater than 200 vertical?

Your point is...

One word: Lockout. 'Nuff said.
About the Packers: They may have sucked the last couple of years, but things are looking much better for us. And about "Old Man Favre (not Farve) , I've heard that umpteen million times before.
Yes, there are hills in WI over 200 vertical. We have quite a few, actually: Granite Peak at 900', Alpine Valley at 427', Devil's Head at 500'. Also, you can drive to the UP in under a day and ski those hills up there. It's essentially two-for-one. Granted, the hills here are not Vail's or JH's or Whistler's, but they'll do until you can get to CO.
