Hi. I'm a 36 yr old that has returned to skiing post a 18 yr hiatus due to his parents stopped paying for it. I had never used anything but rossignol rentals (give or take a score of years) \, I had grown on cross country gear some foot and a half past my finger-tips length skiis. I TOLD THE RENTAL SHOP @ SIERRA SUMMIT THAT I WANTED TO TRY SOMETHING A LITTLE STIFFER. THE GIRL SET ME UP ON WHAT I NOW KNOW TO BE TIGERSHARK 175 12 FOOT WITH POWER SWITCH. The snow was packed powder, 20's to 40's all day, limited sun, lots of icey patches in the shade. I ski only up to blue runs, groomed and not, but mostly groomed. There was some man made powder (about 2-4 inches) on preferred runs.
I have skiied about 2 weeks + this season, more than my previous life combined. I don't know if I got geometerically better or if those skis were magic. I went faster with great confidence, i turned using both skiis simultaneousely, I stopped so suddenly I fell over (usually it takes 6-15 feet, I am 5' 10" 230 lbs).
I am not a knowlegeable skiier such as yourselves, but these worked great for me, I did not even realise they were adjustable, I think I was on the medium setting. Could have bought for 550$ as end of season demos, should have.
Felt like I owned the mountain. I do sleep on a selewct comfort mattress and I do vary the setting depending on my mood and level of soreness, so an adjustable ski sounds pretty good to me.
