Mounting fischer free-flex bindings

Thread Starter
I've just bought a pair of '07 Fischer Worldcup RC's with Z 13 bindings over the internet but have to pay extra to get the bindings mounted. I would be grateful if someone could let me know if the plate has been pre-drilled, in which case I can fit them myself, or whether its better to spend the extra and get them to mount them in the shop.
cheers,
alpine

mounting fees

i was in the same position last january and the local ski shop mounted my railflex2 12's free. fischer rx8's 160 cm w/fischer mx9 boots. if your bindings have an easy boot center adjustment, don't be afraid to experiment. i found i like mine slightly back. also if you dont have soma boots strongly consider acquiring a pair, as they work, the logic is sound and has many benefits. e-bay has cheapies, mine were $250 and comfy as hell from day 1! use your usa foot size. you won't be sorry!

I'm glad the boots work for you. I'd be really careful about using your USA foot size.

This season and last I've been playing around with the Fischer boots. I found that he MX series runs fairly wide at the mid-foot. I also went two shoe sizes down to get a 1 finger fit.

This season, I switched to the RC4 Race which uses the same shell as the X-Fire, I think. This boot is a little narrower with a thinner liner that doesn't pack out as much as the MX liner does. Again, two sizes down for a 1 finger fit.

SOMA is a concept that works but unless you get lucky, I think most would be better off trying them on before they buy. Until I tried the Fischer boots I was skiing the Flexon, blown out at the mid-foot and with the instep raised-basically adjusted for a medium all around type foot.
