Thankyou Epic and Bears

SKI season will be coming to a close pretty soon. This season was one of my best and I would like to thank EPIC and the Bears I have met.

A few days with Bears; Bonni, Jeff, GarryZ, Slider, Mattitude, VA (secret one) at Schweitzer was fun and not so fun for Bonni. Slider and Mattutude came over and the next day we skied Silver and had a good time. Some pretty good snow that day and the next.

Wentto Big Mountain with my Tahoe bud Ted and met up with Sibhusky and she was a great hostess guiding us all over the mountain. thankyou Sibhusky.l

Next on to Fernie and met up with Newfydog and he showed us the mountain which was great and really helped Ted and I pick the terrain for day 2. Had dinner with Newfydog and Mrs. at a local restaurant and had an enjoyable visit and dinner.

Gave GarryZ a helping hand with Beginners Forum questions and answers.

Sold two pairs of ski's on Epic and 2 pairs of gloves. Really hard for me to do the ski swap thing due to my remote location. Selling good equipment on Epic for a fair price was absolutely not a problem and in fact fast and easy.

Thanks Epic for some very good reading; some educational, some amusing, some funny and some really stupid. Every group has the 2% rule even Epic.

Thankyou epic for sharing all and especially for the great people I met over the season. My high point - PNW Crawl and my low point of the season were all because of Epic - Bonni's compound fracture which I saw.

Epic and the people really made my ski season more enjoyable.

Thankyou Everyone!!!!

Its been a fun year. Got to ski with a lot of new bears and I enjoyed the stoke that this community brought to my skiing. The way the community came together to help bonni and Jeff get back home in first-class comfort after Bonni's awful accident speaks volumes.

I have more ski equipment to show for the year, a lot more knowledge of ski equipment and technique. Special thanks to Holiday for helping me add some badly needed tools to my skiing, and thanks to SierraJim for sharing his gear knowledge and some good days on snow as well.

Ski season here will go well into April, even though we did not have half our normal snow. Thanks to all the bears who shared our pain of a not so epic snow season, and kept reminding us of all the great skiing there was to enjoy anyway, and special thanks to all who made the Tahoe Gathering a success.

Pete, it would be great to get together sometime and throw down some turns. Maybe we'll get Bonni for a return appearance?

Ummmmm.

I'm pretty interested in how the smallmouth fishing is. Which drainage do you fish and when is the best time?

Is there some sort of fishing water swap arrangement possible here?

Check out the John Day. Smallmouth paradise amid the great western trout infestation.

(Pete, come on up and we'll abuse those trout)

Bob, seriously consider some water swap. Smallmouth fishing very good on Couer d alene lake from approximately mid April till lst-mid june. Key is water temp. they really turn on about 52 degrees and stay active through about 62 and then go deeper for summer. The real hot spot is Dworshak Reservoir about 1 1/2 hrs south of me. The small mouth fishing there is remarkable. Caught a 19 in 4 1/2 pounder last year. I have a 17 ft Bass Tracker with a 60 horse Merc. I fish with bait casting/spin fish and my fly rod just depends on weather, whats working etc. My record is about 25 smallmouth in a morning on Couer d alene lake. I've only lived here for 4 yrs now so still learning area. Snake river supposed to b e another hot smallmouth fishery but haven't tried yet. Also St. Joe river has about the best Western Slope Cutthroat Trout fishing anywhere.

GarrryZ, can't find out when Silvers going to close. Skied Lookoout today on 2 " of new snow, they are clossing April 7th. Silver hasn't posted a close date yet. Snow is still good with a few exceptions. I will let you know on c losing date when they feel free to inform the public.

Slider, whats this you don't want us fishing the Deschutes ?

Leaving for Pheonix April 14 for 5 days of golf and visit wife's folks and will be on the water very quickly upon return.

Newfydog, really like to take you up on the fishing. Plan on hitting the smallmouth really hard this April/May, I really goofed last year and waited too long into warmer weather and missed the best fishing. Thanks for invite, love to come up. I'll keep in touch. Thanks Pete

Hey Pete, I had a great time skiing with you and the Bears in No. Idaho. A special thanks to you and the wife for showing us such great hospitality!

Newfy, You sound like a C.O. local! I usually drift sections of the John Day many times from Spring to Fall. Great smallmouth fishing! (ps tried your recipie for achiote on some shark. Great on the grill! )

Though it is time to shift gears to other activities the Spring skiing here should be good through May.

Thanks again Pete, and all the Bears I met at Schweitzer. A pleasure to know you all!

Ok gotta hit the hill and work on my tan.:

Teledance, welcome to Epic, are you from Silver area? GarryZ yes Silver closes the 8th with maybe a Sat opening. Lookout closes the 7th and Schweitzer closes the 8th.

Bob Peters PM me, smallmouth fishing for me will be May, the whole month if the weather allows. Mixed with some golf.

Mattitude, thanks pleasure skiing with you and Slider. Even though the season is coming to an end up here, I'm already thinking for where I am going next year. Thinking a bout New Zealand this Aug and Austria next March. Sold some old Fischers here on Epic and took the $$ and bought a new baitcasting reel and rod. Spent an hour on the Joe docks today practicing. Little cold (it was snowing) but did ok with new rig.
