Well first let me start by introducing myself

I'm only 20 years old, but I'm already finishing up my 18th season skiing. I've literally been skiing longer than I can remember, it's all I know, and one of the most deep-seated passions I have.

That being said, I spent hours upon hours upon hours reading through past threads on these forums, Demoing, and reading some more.
The result? A brand new pair of Volkl Karma 177s and the 05-06 model of Marker Titaniums. And I got the whole package for only $550 !

Which brings me to my point; Thank you all SO much. Although nobody specifically recommended a ski for me, all your dedication to these boards, plus your helpful, informative responses pointed me in exactly the right direction. I took my skis up to Copper Mountain today (got some freshies last night, it was fantastic!) and I absolutley love them. Thanks again!

I'll take credit for this.*

You're welcome, kid.

I'm 5'9" and about 135... Working out a lot recently though, and aiming to get up to 145ish by next season.

How many people on these boards are from Colorado?

Haha, I know what you mean, I've been skiing longer than my parents can remember too

Well it's very nice to meet you all, I just wish I had found this forum at the beginning of the ski season rather than the end!

great skis you got horriable bindings. I must say you actually went with the right ski for your size.

To be honest, I don't know Jack about bindings, what's wrong with them, and what would you recommend instead?

marker binding that arent mounted on track systems have a reall bad problem with the toe prereleasing when the ski is decambered. I have had this happen to me on several runs with my markers Comp 1400.

The new Duke from marker looks promising, but for now I would stick to Look, or Salomon.

I get looks cheap and fast because snowbird is a Look(along with dynstar and lange) mountain, so that what I go with

I replaced my markers with Look PX12tis and was able to turn down th DIN from where it was on the markers(set at 10 now on my gotamas and 9 on my public enemies on the markers it was 13 and I still prerelease on drops and compression in the snow) and still never prerelease on the looks. Not to mention the looks toe and heel piece is more rigid and transfers more energy to the ski. On the gotamas that made them much more skiable on hardpack with a more direct connection to the ski.

Well, now that the ski season is back I've broken these back out and replaced the bindings with my old Look P10's I had on my last skis.
Cheers!
