What are your 08 gear predictions for yourself?

Of course, this will be subject to change, but what do you see on your feet for the first day of tracks next season? One pair? Quiver? Keepin what you got now?

(remember, this is time/date stamped )

First day? rock skis, 190 pow+'s

Old skis, but new for me

I hope to replace my RX8s with the new Progressor.

I bought a pair of Head XS plugs, and plan on having them ground and punched this summer.

Need to buy some stuff for the kids.

I am currently in the process of reconfiguring my quiver.

I have recently (in the past 3 weeks) added:

180 King Salmon w/Mojo 15
181 Titan 9 (possibly with Look P14 or P12 or Mojo 15, not sure yet)

I am in the process of unloading: Mantras, Karmas, AR5's and Titan 8.

That will give me a 2008 quiver of the following:

180 No Ka Oi (117-78-107) w/ Railflex 12
Titan 9 (126-86-112) presently unmounted
King Salmon (125-94-115) w/Mojo 15
Spatula (120-125-115 ) w/Salomon S912

I still need a rock ski, though. Might snag (finally) those piss green T9's I've been slathering on about used for just that purpose.

Only other thing I might want/need is something under 75 as a groomer/ice ski (still eying some leftover McG's, just trying to decide between 178 and 183cm)

My biggest decision is going to be what I'm going to dump at the ski swap.
The only thing I would like to get is a big powder ski for those few days a year we get monster dumps of heavy snow. Since they would rarely see the light of day I don't want to spend much money so I'll be watching eBay and this forum's sales threads for something appropriate.
As usual, massive reconfiguration. Both of quiver and bank account. I'll be skiing first day (back east) on my Head Supershapes or old Rossi VS's; after that shudder to say. New Goat's may be in my future (current ones are 03), possibly Head 78's in place of my 82's, possibly Mojo 90's. :
I'm currently down to 3 skis; one 72mm carver, one 88mm all-mountain and one 125mm Powder-only ski.

I'm considering adding a 66mm or skinnier SL ski. It would also make sense to sell my two fat skis and buy one 96 to 105mm soft snow ski.

My reluctance to act now is based on the inability to sell what I have at any kind of a reasonable price. Everyone is unloading good gear for peanuts. I'd have to give my older gear away (and I'm too cheap for that).

Cheers,

Michael

Probably be on my rock skis, 04-05 Public Enemies. Their spot in the quiver will be filled with something along the lines of a Legend 8000 with an AT binding since I really don't ski park anymore.
I'm liking the quiver as it now stands. The only change that I can foresee would be to add Intuition liners to the Kryptons.
I'm taking my MB5's to Portillo in August.
I'd like something quick and nimble for tight east-coast trails.

I have a Atomic R11 170cm 70mm that's super stiff for carving fast and 74mm Modified that's wide enough for anything I'd come across but a bit heavy to be really nimble when it's tight.

I'm demoing next year and will be in 08/09.

What are your 08 gear predictions for yourself?

..."What new skis on my feet" you say?!...I could only wish. From early poling results with the boss it appears a package of Grabber Mycoal Heat Treat Hand Warmers (Calentadores De Manos) 7 hr version, “instant heat & air activated” is my only ’08 new "gear" addition.

183CM Head Monster 103 (unmounted) -- Just purchased today.
188CM Nordica Beast Limited w/ PX12 mounted 2CM back from line -- Every Day ski for soft snow

Not trying to keep up with Phil, but...:

Fortunately, the kids are set for now. New boots could be an issue if their feet keep growing.

For the wife, who knows. I would like to get in in a decent boot for her ability and maybe find a pair of 156s for her to learn on. Then let her graduate to the XRC800 177s.

For me, I have ideas. I am thinking of doing some beer league racing, so a pair of cheater GS skis might be in order. I also like the new SuperShape Magnums in a 177 for trips out West. (If I do that I would sell the current Supershapes). A GS suit would be a nice to have too. (After I get rid of the belly. )

That will probably all change by next fall.

Current Quiver:

Hard snow: Elan RIPStick
Mid-Fat (never used): Elan m666
Soft snow/day-after Pow: Volkl Mantra
Deep Days: Volkl Sanouk

Next year:
Hard snow: Nordica Mach 3
Soft snow/crud: Dyanstar Mythic Rider
Deep Days: Volkl Sanouk
Not sure where it'll fit in: Volkl Mantra

Pssssssst.....I'm selling both my 170cm Elan RIPStick and 176 m666, both with integrated fusion bindings, if anyone is interested. My Nordicas & Dynastars are already on their way.

Fantasy (ski or sponsorhip fairy grants my wishes : )
NEW:
Supershape Magnum
i.SL-RD

Maybe a Monster 82 since its my fantasy and I'm allowed to be greedy :P
The new Raptor boots (although I'm not a fan of the fire engine red, the black/grey was much nicer looking)

Abandoning the one-ski quiver idea... as seen in a rather long, new thread I just put up:

Skis as of now:
'06 164cm iM88 for soft snow/deeper EC fresh stuff in the trees. These were just shipped and not yet mounted. Thoughts on bindings:?

'05 156cm iM75Chip w/RF2SLD11's for when its not too soft/not too hard/not to deep, but if I can sell 'em, I'd like to replace w/SuperShapes or RX8's to be my everyday ski.

?? 162cm K2 Classic Woody Poachers(old twintips)w/Solly 800's. Rock skis that were my younger step-bro's skis when he passed away several years ago. They have SERIOUS sentimental value to me and I still like to get them/him on the slopes at least once a year.

Boots:
'07 24.5 Krypton Cross ID's
'03 25.0 Head FR 8.5s(have to use with the old K2's, not remounting 'em)

I'm good to go as far as skis are concerned.

I've got 165 cm Fischer WC SCs for carving tight turns, vintage Kästle 208 cm Super Giant slaloms for high-speed thrills and solid LR turn carving (well as high as I can get to in the East) and some 190 cm Volant Machete Mc Gs for taking it easy and deeper snow days. Unless I move out west, what more could I want?

I might be getting some of those new-fangled "safety release" or breakable poles though .

Already bought them,

Dynastar Contact Limited. ( Contact 11 ) for @ home

Dynastar Mythic Rider, for the mountains

Always disliked the way Dynastar's skied. How the times they are a changing.
Picking up a pair of Karma's tomorrow from skier219 to use when the snow gets a little deep here in the east, since my G3's have bumped down to my rock ski.

Will continue with my 5 Star's for hardpack.

Older Dynastars are were always more reliable & competent than exciting.

New Dynastars are thrilling without losing their trustworthy qualities.

Nice!
