Can MRG hold up for 4 more days?

I'm driving from Montreal to Boston next week and was hoping to get in a day of skiing at Mad River; aiming for Tuesday, March 27th. Anyone know how well the hill is holding up? Will Paradise hold out for 4 more days?

I haven't skied MRG in 20 years and reallllyyyyy want to get back there. Hey, MRG end of march - bring the rock skis and destroy them!

Fingers Crossed! Looked like it was melting fast on their webcam today. Every time I went there in the past it was with a guy who couldn't really ski well enough to get down paradise, so I have never had the chance to see if it is as fun as I have heard. As my daughter would say, "4 more sleeps".

Wed was great, lots of snow. If it freezes at night, that helps a lot. But natural snow goes fast.

No matter what the conditions, April 8th will be the last day. Construction for the new single must commence.

Try this board. The Sugarbush board is a little more active than the MRG board. Should be able to get this info on either. Good local knowledge here.

I skied there Tues and Thurs... By the end of the day Thurs, as it started to rain, it was pretty mushy and hard to ski. People were waxing after every run yesterday and muttering how it wasn't even doing anything. I heard the term, "Sierra Cement," bandied about by quite a few folks. I didn't hit Paradise yesterday but Fall Line was still in decent shape in the late morning. As the day wore on, there were more and more brown patches emerging all over the place though. I skied Lynx to start and end my day and it didn't even look like the same trail by the end. I would def bring your rock skis!

If you haven't booked a place to stay yet, IMO The Inn at Mad River Barn! I truly enjoyed my stay there, Craig and Vicki are what I'd call, "Damn Good People!" Betsy has gone South so I didn't get to meet her, but I was having such a great time that I wound up staying an extra night. They make one mean breakfast too!

Craig and Vicki ROCK!. I skied with Craig on Monday and in the past few years, I think I have paid for most of Craigs tele gear in tips. You are right, they are as good as gold.

With everything I am hearing perhaps Sugarbush is a better bet. Some would say its a better mountain as well.......

Might get some new snow Sat night 1-3", remember the bottom goes first, that's what you see on their webcam.

The Inn at the Mad River Barn is a great place....the wife and I got married there. What a great party that was. It is one of four original inns that opened on Rt 17 the year MRG opened.

Betsy is an serious golfer, more golf in Florida in the winter than Vermont. She has been a club member at the Bush for years so she will be back soon.

The upper mountain usually holds up well. The lower section gets bare spots. They place shovels at the bare spots so you can keep a line open.
