The shop I took the skis to seems to have a good reputation. The people at the shop also have seemed helpful to date. I'm not sticking up for what they did at all, but I just want to make sure that there aren't misconceptions about this shop. I would *hope* that they have done a good job in the past to get recommended and I"m *hoping* mine is an isolated case but there's no way to know for sure.
Assuming it is a good shop: maintaining their good reputation is what makes it worth their while to treat you right, and the fact their mistakes are isolated is what keeps them from going broke doing so.
The shop that mounted the wrong binding on my new skis (and then replaced the skis) has continued to get business from me, and my recommendation, for years.
