Volkl AC4s w/ inegrated Marker IPT bindings: At the factory setting my Salomon boot sole center mark is @8mm aft of the ski mark. I moved them forward to the next setting and the boot mark is now @2mm forward of the ski mark.

This is the way I have skied them all season and have had no complaints - absolutely love the skis! I did notice recently, however, that when placed next to other skis they do appear to be rather far forward. This has piqued my curiosity...:

Other than the obvious characteristic of float, what are the common performance characteristics or tradeoffs one could expect from a ski with the bindings slightly forward or aft??? (carving, stability, bumps, etc.)
