Well, I've never been beyond the Do Lung bridge so I've never met the man in person, but here's a few highlights from his writings:

"I watched a snail crawl accross the edge of a straight razor and survive. This is my dream...this is my nightmare."

"There's nothing that I detest more than the stench of lies."

"You have to have skiers who are moral, and at the same time are able to use thier primordial instincts to kill without feeling, without passion, without judgement.."

Well why didn't you just say so? I've been compiling evidence on several Epic Ski members who I believe are guilty of commiting "thought crimes". PM me for more info.

I'll just file this under One big Yawn

Somehow, I think you'd have great difficulty in proving that anybody who routinely reads TGR would have any interest whatsoever in attending a PMTS camp.

Ummm, you realize that HH lives in Colorado and HS lives in New England? They aren't all that close to each other. It was suggested that the HS ski-off be held in Colorado where more then one PMTS-devotee could actually be found, but HS wasn't interested in that.

Anyway it's pretty much impossible to parody HH. He's his own parody.

Context, people, context.

The poster on TGR was Harbl, not HH, and nobody should have taken him seriously, especially posting an ad for a carving method amongst maggots at tgr. I thought it was pretty funny.

If you can find a lawyer who would take the defamation case and waste his/her time, then that's not a lawyer I'd want to hire.

As far as policing ourselves goes, aren't "we" doing it right now?
The posters on TGR remind of the "clones" on the Jim Rome show.

He does NOT visit other site, he says so right here:

"I don't visit other ski sites....

I found the post on TGR rather pathetic. Talk about a cry for attention. In fact many of the TGR posters seem to be crying for attention. Some are certainly great skiers, but most are probably average wannabes on fat skis who talk big, love to insult everyone and think that skiing defines who they are.
Not for nothing, but I dont see how this topic has anything to do with Epic Ski anyway....its like having an issue with a guy in a knitting forum and bringing it here just because the knitting guy also skis. Is the accused even an Epic member?

Hah hah hah another funny serious man posts his thoughts hey listen I think your not good at understanding TGR my serious compadre listen up here the whole point of TGR is to share a joke at the same time info is shared and if you cant hang with that kind of humor then maybe you oughta just keep putting extra starch in your boxers man hey what?

That was pretty random.

That site has tons of noise. It doesn't have an awful lot of skiing content in relation to that noise.

That's fine. I can appreciate and understand that a forum full of skiers wants to just hang out and shoot the breeze online. I have other forums that are the same way, and I waste enough time on those. I like that this site is much more focused on skiing without the random banter and crap, so I hang out here.

I wasn't judging TGR or its posters. I'm sure it's a fun place to hang out, but it's not a good place to learn about skiing. EpicSki is.
It was really only a matter of time. TGR would like to welcome it's newest member, Finndog.

I learn a hell of a lot over there. Lots of learning to be done, just not so much spoon-feeding.

I do find this request by HH amusing tho: "Greg, can we contact the moderator and see if they can identify and uncover from the post, who the perpetrator is, by some method?".

TGR moderator? : An oxymoron at best. As common as hen's teeth.

Something is beginning to hit the fan at realskiers.

My sense of humor doesn't involve imitating people and calling them gay.. or telling them that they should kill themselves.

Oh well. Guess I'm getting old.

X-EastCoaster: You sound like a blast to hang out with

Have I judged TGR posters too harshly? Maybe so, but I am 45 years old and I am past some of the silly stuff going on over there. One day you will understand.

ramshackle: ...you oughta just keep putting extra starch in your boxers...

I promise to use less starch if you promise to improve your writing skills.

What we really need is a TGR highlights reel. The Trip Reports tend to be good, and once in awhile the attempted humor hits the mark. But humor is usually a low percentage bet anyway.

The raucous culture over there does not bother me, even though I'm a big fan of the emphasis on civility over here. At TGR everyone insults each other with such abandon that only an idiot would take it personally. An insult over here means a lot more.

(p.s. I'm 50 years old)

Just what we needed....a TGR vs. EpicSki thread. Never been done before.
Well, as long as this has turned into a TGR v. Epic thread, I'll play along.

TGR can be pretty ridiculous. Epic can be pretty ridiculous.

A lot of TGR guys don't like Epic because it's over moderated and they can't say stuff like #@$*$#@ or #@#% or even @#@*&*&%$#@. That, and there's too many gapers. I say learn to express yourself in a more subtle fasion. A lot of Epic guys don't like TGR because some of the maggots call them @#*&$#@#%$ or @#*$. That and there's too many hard-a$$ bro-brahs. I say get over yourself and get a sense of humor - I get called a @#*&*%$#@$ over there on a regular basis and I don't mind.

Both TGR and Epic are fun places to hang out. Instead of bickering back and forth, shouldn't we be uniting against the common enemy - realskiers?

Wait, this has potential! We got a chance at a three-way ending with a SLAPP!

THIS COULD MAKE INTERNECTONIC HISTORY!

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to start a brawl with a different sport? Maybe something sort of similar in attitude, where equipment is discussed (and blamed) where there is an Us v. Them elitist attitude...

I nominate GOLF.

It's got it all:

Expensive Gear.
Expensive to play.
Country Club v Public course
Members v. employees
Caddyshack...

The glaring difference is the handycap system, they have an advantage of being able to compare themselves ...without having to peak while at the urinal.
