Whistler Season Accommodation Wanted 07/08

Hi,
I'm new here, and it looks like a great site for information sharing...
Myself and girlfriend are planning to do a season in Whistler for the winter season of 2007/8.
We have Visas & work authorisation forms sorted thanks to Bunac, so we are now looking for accommodation and jobs.

We plan to arrive in Whistler in October and stay until May 2008(and possibly move on to another part of BC). We are looking for private accomodation for 2 adults sharing.

We would preferebly like to rent a property such as a condo, apartment or hotel room for the season for just us two, we arnt really keen on sharing a property if at all possible.

If anyone has any contacts or links or advice for accommodation id be greatful if you could share it with me.

I have tried allura, pique news, natives.co.uk, seasonaires.com but there isnt much in the way of private accommodation for 2 adults only i.e not a house share. I'd like to get something sorted before the housing rush starts that I hear so much about.

As far as i can tell we have two options
1) apply for work and housing via Intrawest and stay in possible shared accommodation on a basic wage and get lift pass etc... thrown in
2) work for an independant company, get a little more money but have to pay for own lift pass etc..., source accommodation ourselves and pay a higher rate albeit private accommodation

Is it possbile to work for an independant company which provides a spirit pass and accommodation (does this exist?)

thank you in advance.
Scott

You've done probably the best non-word-of-mouth research so far, but listings for next winter won't come around until about September. I'd suggest spending a week out here in Sept., and having a few pints with the boys at Tapleys. It's the best place to meet locals who either might have places, or who could give you leads on places to stay.
Nothing ever beats personal referals, because most landlords here have been stung badly in the past and refuse to rent out a place to an unknown without charging enough to do a complete reno at the end of the season!
If you land a place to live, you'll be able to work anywhere you please. Just go for the jobs that start at 5pm, so you'll never miss a powder day!
Good luck! It's a blast if you make it.
