So anyone else picking out new skis already? - Page 2

MNSkiWolf, welcome to Epic! Nice to have another flatlander on board! Wonder after our screwy summer here in MN, just what kind of a winter is in store.

Have always been too scotch to have any more than one pair of "do-it-all" skis, but having been a little less than overwhealmed by my G31's, I'm debating finally breaking down and getting a pair of skis for the front side and a dedicated pair of fats for the backside. Will start by checking the demo deals: Leading contenders: front side: Volkl P40 & P40 Platinum, Mod X Pro backside: G40 or maybe a pair of snowrangers, if I can find some.

Looks like it will be the Fischer Alltrax 106 in a 190 for me, with a plate binder, either the linken or voile (if i can get the right commitment from a shop).

ridgehiker, what happened to the stockli asteroids and the volkl g-4's?

The Big Stix 106 looks like a perfect compliment for the G41. The G41 is great in crud, junk, and any weird snow, but i would like something fatter for the deep stuff. (assuming we'll get some this year!) The asteroid seemed like it is pretty similar to the G41, a bit wider, but the main thing i liked about that was that someone actually made a ski in a 201. I also talked to some friends and haven't heard the best things about stockli's durability.
