My daughters would really like to go to Canada, but I have been advised against Whistler that late in the year because the easier runs are melted by then.
Keep in mind that if you do decide on Canada, make sure you all have passports. You'll need them to re-enter the US.
I've been to Whistler in mid April and although there was plenty of snow, it was a mixed bag of conditions. Everything from bluebird skies to fog so thick you couldn't see five feet in front of you. It's a crap shoot. You might be lucky.
I've skied the Summit Resorts almost every year for the past 25 years in April and always had good conditions and weather. Even though this hasn't been a spectacular snow year, places like Copper, ABasin and Breckenridge have so much terrain above 11,000 feet that will hold snow long into May.
