I must agree with HS. I come from europe and do not fall nicely into eather PSIA or PMTS consepts but that doesent make me inferior as a skier. And I like the videos provided by HS since flawless demo skiing must be for some among the most boring stuff to watch. HS gets in the back seat and recovers. Thats great, he recovered. Others will just bash him for getting in the back seat but the truth is that if you ski back country or moguls or GS race tracks and you never loose your balance aft then you are eather good at lying to yourselfe or then you are not pushing yourselfe which is something guys like HS does. Does that make him a bad skier? No, that makes him a great skier. And anybody else for that matter as well.

This whole dispute between PSIA and PMTS is a bad joke. Most expert skiers on the planet never even heared of neather of them.

Just because you don't fall into PMTS, PSIA or any other official "style" doesn't make anyone an inferior skier. Saying that the instruction methods are no good, but not giving them a real try makes one appear ignorant. Mouthing off, that you are better than a regognized WC class skier, regardless of how big an ass he seems, or the style he promotes, with out learning the style and speaking from expirence, shows a close mind. A closed mind cannot learn.

I, for one, have never found, that i know everything, many things yes, but not everything.

Dude...I tried them, 20 years ago, when I was learning. Then I was coached in ski racing by a guy who was also PSIA. I have tried them, and moved on.

What would it hurt to try PSIA again or Learn PMTS? If you truly have discovered some better techniques, you could demonstrate how they are better, from a position of knowledge. Spend the next 10 - 15 years learning or re-learning other systems, and perfecting your style. If it truly is an improvement, good skiers will want to listen.

There is no one right way to ski. I am sure the industry treated HH the same way you are being treated. Prove you are not just a blow hard. Start posting more of how you feel your methods are better. I, for one, as a relatively new skier, will keep my mind open.

So true, great explaination HS.

There is more than one way to ski good. I would like to see a proficient PMTS'er ski down Devils Fiddle in those conditions that HS did. Your Supershapes would get eaten up. I am not saying that a PMTS'er cannot be a good skier, but it is one structured turn (all be it a good one) but you need more than one type of turn to ski.
FYI- HH's other fav ski is a Head 88...

Any idea on his specfic setup? Size ski, bindings, mount, tune, his size, etc? This years 88's or last?

I broke my 186 88's last year, was on them with look zr18's. Now I'm on this years 186cm im88's, with S916's, with a 1cm lift, mounted on the line, 1.5 base, 2 side, I'm 6'1, 185 lb.

I use it as my all around EC resort ski, mostly groomed (packed powder to ice), some bumps here and there, and some powder and trees. Haven't been out on them in a month or so, spending time on my pow skis and tree skis.

This isn't good skiing people.....it's brilliant, revolutionary expert level skiing that most people can't even understand, seemingly, even here on an instructors forum.
All BS aside...do you have any concerns about maintaining healthy knees as you age using a technique like you employ in that video clip?
Max,

If only you knew the revolutionary HS technique. There is no stress on any joint, it is pure efficiency and grace in motion.

You can't use your eyes and experience as a guide. This is HS afterall.

Well here's an interesting development....looks like Harald is posting over on TGR, trying to convert them and wage war on epicski and the PSIA......bizzare.

Could be an alias............?

(it's not me, I assure you...they just like to think every other mysterious alias is me.)

Will PMTS be the new technique of choice for freeskiers everywhere?????
HS,

One question: Why don't you go out west?

oh, and also: Your estimation of your speed is funny. I think if you spent some time on a road bike, you'd see that 35-40 is, well, a lot faster than you were traveling. a lot. anyway, neither here nor there. I'd go and ski with you sometime and I think we'd have a good time, but I'm in philly now and it's a much better use of my weekends to get out west than to futz around new england. oh, yeah, we can put it in your language

I'M CALLING YOU OUT: JACKSON HOLE ALL OF NEXT WEEK. SCAAARRED?D??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
