Just got back from one great trip to Lake Placid. We really like it there. Had a great stay at the Golden Arrow. 2 room suite w/whirlpool tub for 149.00 a night weekday, for a family of 5. Pretty hard to beat!

Arrived Sunday it was snowing they had gotton about 27in in the past two days. We skiied Monday. Got there at 8:30 mid 20's snowing on and off even a little sun.

It was the softest, deepest, best conditions I have ever skied there. Even the traverse from the gondi to Excelsior was soft. At one point it was snowing so hard you had to peck your way down a little at a time, but all in all just great.

Lake Placid is a fun town with many good eats. Petes Steakhouse was the best.

Some pictures here, sorry not many of skiing though.

Great time would reccomend to all.

Nice digs at the Golden Arrow

Nice pics...I heard most of the mountain was closed Tuesday due to winds...we were there Wednesday and Thursday. Cold but great snow and not much wind. Golden Arrow looks pretty swank. We opted for the cheap route and stayed at the Lake Placid Summit (formerly Ramada). The view from our room was almost identical to the pic you posted from the GA lobby and for $53 per night, tough to beat if all you did was sleep there. Remember the old Motel 6 commercial: "This is the fancy hotel room at night" <Blank, dark screen> This is a Motel 6 room at night <same blank, dark screen>.

Your right. We did not ski Tuesday. Had it planned for just Monday. For me one full day at Whieface, and I'm pretty whipped. Took advantage of the free Empire Card deal on Whiteface's Website. Saved $83.00 on lift tickets, plus you can use it as often as you want at WF or Gore.

With three teens and my wife. The extra space is very welcome, and worth every penny, to me.

I hear you on the family digs. Teens can take up a lot of space!

Our local area season pass comped us a free empire card that we got when we went to Gore in January. On Wednesdays, if you bring an empty Coke can, you can get 2 tix for the price of one (full price). That's also a sweet deal, but I didn't see it on their website...an insider's tip to be sure. Same deal at Gore.
