My binding just fell off

Thread Starter
I was skiing hardpack and bumps and wondering why turning left I had no grip at all (ok not much grip right turn either as I haven't sharpened my Exploders in months) when I went from sliding to falling in a left turn.....all due to a binding release - from the Ski!

Binding has been remounted using helicoils......some of the screws had ripped clean, some took out chunks of topsheat!

interesting, i have never seen a properly done helicoil rip out. were they real helicoils (little spring like threads) or those crappy inserts that some stores call helicoils? depending on the ski and if there was glue used as a water proofing during the installation a heli should last longer than the ski. it does look from the picture (bad angle) that there isn't aloy of screw depth though did you add that riser to the older heelpiece?

ejc - I read it as, "Binding HAS been remounted using helicoils" (ie, after the incident), not "Binding HAD been remounted" (ie, prior to the incident).

Is this another case of Marker bindings ALWAYS pre-releasing?

I thought it was an old Salomon...
Well Tom, at least it happened on hardpack,
had it happened somewhere else...

Mrs. Marker complains about that too.
