Atomic Metron M:EX, 175cm, used 2x, $350/obo

2004-05 model. Bought new in December for $450 + shipping. They aren't the ski I need however - a little too stiff and "GS like" for me. I would categorize them as a BIG turn all-mountain carver. Otherwise, the title pretty much sums it up. They were used 2 times. In near new condition, with just a few scratches (cosmetic only) on the bases. They have Neox 412 bindings on them. Currently set up for a 317mm boot, but these are super easy to adjust, and if I can find the binding directions, I'll include them. They will come freshly waxed and the edges will be touched up.

Looking for $350/obo, + shipping. Paypal ok (you pay fee), or USPS money order.

PM me if interested. Let's talk! I don't feel like storing these un-used in my basement.

Same as this ski: http://cgi.ebay.com/skis-package-ATO...QQcmdZViewItem

Bump! Still available. Dropped to $300 + shipping, or trades on something like Line Prophet 80 or 90, or Rossi B3.

Heck of a deal here. I love these skis. They can carve, or they can be pushed around, but they are very neutral and basically do whatever it is you want. Don't be scared by the big mountain beast reputation, these skis are easy!

Keep 'em

They will do whatever you want - except trees (for me anyway).

Not scared -- just not into "power skis" right now, but they were SICK yesterday in the MN mashed potatoes - you should have seen the troughs I carved - it was OBSCENE! (Unfortunately, the paled in comparison to my Scratch FS's in the "fun zone".) With that said, I'm going to move the binding to the "forward position". It will make them a bit more like my TT's in th turn initiation department.

I'm just really liking the twin tip thing at the moment, and know that they'll just sit and cry quietly in the corner.

Thanks for the props and advice though!

I would hardly call metron's big mountain beasts.

Actually, the M:EXs are not really like any of the other Metrons. They are the direct successor to the 10:EX and R:EX, both known as big mountain rip sticks, and both of which I also ski. My M:EXs have the same flex and demensions as my R:EXs except that they've added about a mm to each side of the tip and tail to give them a little more float and quicker turn initiation (about the only deficiencies of the 10:EX and R:EX in my opinion).

Since the M:EXs don't come any longer than 185s they don't really qualify as true big mountain "beasts," but they rip crud and powder at speed with some of the best of them. Unfortunately, for some bizzare reason Atomic put them in the Mentron line, which appears to have killed off the EX lineage because of opinions just like yours, and on the other side people who thought they were buying a "Metron" and ended up with more ski than they could handle.

There are certainly beefier big mountain cruisers out there, but unless you plan on true video style "big mountain skiing," the M:EXs will handle a suprising aray of funky condtions at reasonably high speeds. You just need to get over the "embarassment" of standing in the lift line with them. Because they are an inappropriately marketed and misunderstood ski you can still find some amazing deals on them.

Hey Axbiker, The checks in the mail.

Axebiker

Just got these skis and bindings from Axebiker and they are in beautiful condition. He did a professional job of packing them to protect the bases and edges for shipping. Never had a bad experience buying or selling stuff with Bears, but this is the best yet. Four Stars in my book!
