are you serious? You don't consider plastic shells in your eyes 24 hours a day a health threat?
There are many different types of contacts, well... many different types of marketing. Yes, there are expensive ones that correct for astygmatism, but I believe all gas-permeable lenses are the same, yet marketed differently. (I once saw an interesting documentary into this exact marketing.)
My lenses are a buck a pop. They are acuvue daily wears. I've also used Baush and Laumb. Honestly, whether it costs a buck or 100, a gas permeable soft lens is the same as the next gas permeable soft lens.
Why would you leave a piece of plastic that costs a buck in your eye for 2 or 3 months? Just take it out, rinse it, store it. Use it again. If it sucks after a few days, or weeks, (or months in my case as I clean them) then just toss them. I stock up, have about 50 pairs right now and each cost a fricking dollar. On ski trips when I know I'll be drinking every night at the pub, I just toss them daily. If I'm not doing active sports, I wear my glasses as there is still something mildly strange about a plastic shell in your eye.
