Im a newbie of the skiing world. Ive done it a couple times, I am less than good. Let's leave it at that for now. I have some old skis that were recently waxed and sharpenned but I dont ski very good on them because they are not my size at all. They are 185's and I need ~155-160cm at the most to learn on, and having shaped skis certainly wouldnt hurt! Long story short, I got invited skiing with friends at the last minute and I dont know what route to take. I know I dont do well on my own skis for a few reasons but its rediculously priced to rent skis. I already have nice boots that fit me perfect as well as my old atomic skis and poles. I just dont know if I should try to find a used set thats closer to my size, use these boats I have or rent some from the lodge. Its just a one day session Im going for but I want to at least have fun. Im still wet behind the ears and I need to get my bearings back but I've been browsing ebay trying to decide whether to buy a used set on there or just resort using what I know doesnt work or struggle with rentals. I just hate to rent ski's in this situation because I know they will be beat down where I could get a set for under $100 on ebay that would do the same thing and I could keep learning on those the rest of this season. Im really not sure what to do and this little ski party is next weekend so I need to do something SOON. Unfortunately I didnt know I was going until yesterday so I had no choice. If anyone out there could help steer me in the right direction of what I could be looking for on ebay for a beginner/intermediate ski thats around 155-160cm long, or what I should do Im open to suggestions at this point. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!
