And what cop is going to let ANYONE pass without a license? No REAL cop that I know. I'd have his ass on a platter for that if I were his chief. What's the defense? "Gee, Chief, they were such nice boys in that great show...."

I don't think so.

Just cowboy up and admit it's a phony show so we can enjoy it better. We're not that stupid.:
I highly doubt you have EVER done 180mph, or even owned a car capable of reaching that speed. But believe and feel what you want and watch it or not if you want

Yes its an automatic, on some of the sites they mixed up the drivetrain specs with one of my brother's other cars (since we submitted info on our whole stable), it is NOT a 6 speed manual. Seeing all the clutch problems others had I am glad it wasnt.

I got a feeling he's going to scratch a mirror. If real challenging driving is involved, that is.
When we are not in a challenge then its all about navigation, so you can drive with one hand or no hands if you want....But, during a challenge, we even had to wear helmets at times. Things were designed so that we do not kill ourselves but that we can destroy the cars if not on our game. But of course this does not campare with professional drivers doing WRC or F1, we ae all just regular people who love cars not pros.
The Lambo team however competes in many of the Cannonball Run, Players Run type events....the real ones, top speed, no rules etc.

Speaking of Lambo, scratching his mirror would be a costly deal, the paint on that car is exclusive to that 40th anniversary edition, and I think he said it costs $1500/qt!!

Several of the show contestants will participate in the real no holds barred Bullrun this summer, come and try your skills against them

Yeah, for events like that an stick shift would just cause issues... Not to mention that when you have a V8 like that, for all practical purposes, a stick shift is not much better....

When you have 4 cylinder cars they are a blessing though.. better gas mileage and more power when you need it.

BTW, I didn't see the thing where it said it was a 6-speed, I watched the video and saw NO shifting... except in to reverse when he was parking.

well ... it doesn't look to me to be staged, just typical reality show stuff. The key is in the editing. They can create villains and heros, enhance or remove conflict etc by manipulating the shots. But it looks real enough to me to hold my interest for a while.

You might have to come across Sasquatch though pretty soon or see a UFO to keep everyone on channel

Well, he does do shifting at times, he has a racing automatic transmission with a Hurst his/hers shifter, it has gates set up just for manual shifting, and he will use it a lot, question is if they show it. If you catch the rerun (or see it online) look at when we leave Whitefish Montana at the starting line you can see my brother shift and that he hit the nitrous at one point, we are shoved back into the seat, its very visible.

Oh boy, since PSIA was founded in Whitefish, MT, that means we can hijack yet another thread for the infamous repeating debate.

Give me a $350,000 factory sponsored car and 3 identical back-up cars (not drive my own rare 1 of 48 in the world collectable car built with my own money (brother's)). Give me a 20 man suppport team, million dollar support truck, subsidize a million dollars a year to support the team and cars for them, and pay me $1.5million a year. Then fly me, the gear and team all over the world, and I accept your challenge, screw it throw me in F1, even better payout. You're comparing apples to oranges....clearly you do not get it.

You are indeed correct I have never owned a car capable of 180 and you seem to have a short memory since we had PM'd each other on car stuff.

My stock C5 Vette only has a published top speed of 170. A real dog. :

I watched a replay of this last night prior to reading this thread. I made it half way through but the commercial to show ratio was so heavy, I abandoned it half way in.

Now that I have a dog in this fight, I'll watch as often as I can. It's funny because when I saw your vehicle in the "kill the light bulb" segment my first thought was "those guys are nuts to risk that car if it is all original;"

I hope the Hurst made it out alive

It must have been HUGE fun

Comment was to Bonni who seems to think that a slant six (even with the Hyperpak producing only 196hp gross) is a beast.

You're right. I don't get it.

And you're assuming I've never driven a race car and/or know nothing about racing. Tsk.

Hmm, a comparison of WRC with a made for TV road rally. Comparing a slant six with a column shift to proper muscle cars producing in excess of 500hp....yeah I think that.

At any rate, I did not write, produce, or direct the show, I was there just to compete and win. Its not for everyone, its not WRC, F1, or NASCAR, nor is it trying to be. They clearly state that we are not about speeding wrecklessly down public roads. All I can say is watch if you like it if not then, well its your TV do with it as you please.

If you have criticism by all means dish it out, but not to me, I cant do anything about it, the show is all new to me too, I lived it but I am seeing the results for the first time just like you. Send the criticism to Spike and Bullrun, they welcome it.

Cheers!

Sorry, no scripted cuties offering tampons to repair radiators, no $17,000 "entry fee" that gets you into a party with Dennis Rodman each night for seven nights in a 5 star hotel.

No smashing lightblubs and woe and doom over a scratch or broken mirror and best of all .... no real "Wrasslers" like Goldberg to contend with.

My comments BTW were extracted from Goldberg's site ....

Comments about actors were from the profiles on their sites (those that were accessable) and it seems many of you were an aspiring actors or a "stuntmen" .... I didn't write the bios, they did.

During the rally we were under so much stress that it really was not that much fun....it was very, very hard. But now looking back I miss it, I miss the other teams and I miss the adventure. It feels almost surreal now, hard to believe what we did and went through. Its too bad they edit so much out, during that first leg, my brother and I went through so much (even a break down) that we were sure we were done for.

I tried to talk my brother out of continuing many times, told him its just not worth wrecking the car over...not even for the $200k. But I am happy we went on.

If you have interest in seeing it with no commercials you can online @ www.spiketv.com

Oh ok I see where the confusion is now.

The real Bullrun is a real competiton as well, but you have a few catagories for competitors. There are those that are there to win, some happen to be celebrities, some are professional race car drivers etc.. They race and party, thats what its about. There are those that enter just to party and there are those who enter for publicity. So you will see an all out race car vs. a minivan, the guy in the minivan knows he will never win, he is there just to have a good time, or for a charity or to get a name brand out there.

The Bullrun show however, is all about competition, the idea was to let the common person enter and compete on a level playing field. Short of the Lotus and Lambo team, I dont think any of us would fork over $17k to enter a race. It is also engineered with routes and challenges that allow each team's strong points to shine in order to give some parity. Nobody had the upper hand other than the smarter team.

Hum, didn't want to rain on your parade. On second thought I did sound self righteous and that was unwarranted. Sorry about that. Hope you had fun competing with your car.

You're the only one in the world who ever ran a car? Puhleeze. I've locked into a 3 point harness before on a dirt oval. Does that qualify, or do you require a tv camera to follow you around?

I've had more cars than just ONE. I owned a nice 69 Roadrunner at one time. Wanna call that anything but a muscle car? Huh. Later, DUDE.:

In a last shameless attempt to sidetrack this thread and in honor of female drivers, this (cheezy) tribute to Michèle Mouton.

And some oldskool, RWD, no power steering, rally driving : Ari Vatanen, 1983, on board footage.

Bonni time to adjust the dosage of the meds.....where did I say I was the only one in the world who ever ran a car? I mean who would even say such a statement????? What does having a camera around have to do with anything????? Who even made a gesture leaning towards that????

I hope youve had other cars...but you boasted about your slant six and putting wrinkle wall tires on it (God only knows why).

You had a 69 Roadrunner, awesome I love that car! Love Mopars hope to own a 69 Charger one of these days. Later DUDETTE. :

The wording for all of the "promo" is carefully worded pure hype, all vague, words like "based on" ....

Well, lessee; you can't speed, hard core driving is buying all the maps in the local gas&go, helmets over 72 mph : awesome dude!

This is to racing and rallying, is what Velveta is to cheese.

Of course this is just my humble opinion.

Somehow I am reminded of an old joke that has the punchline "just glad I didn't step in it" .. :
