I agree, if we did get taken, it wasn't for a long or dangerous ride. Having just spent last few days on another thread where the question boiled down to physics of airflow versus physics of photoshop.... I obviously need to start being more suspicious of cool pictures! But that won't stop me from looking and enjoying.

Plus, what if it's still a legit pic?? We all wanna go there now.....

I'm guessing the backside of Diamond Head??? (But then I don't get out of Mayberry often, other than to ski Mt. Pilot).

btw, slider, you are a good teacher. Nice of you to construct that tutorial with visuals, in the parallel thread on posting pics. Now you need to teach us photoshop tricks!

WOW. ok... right there is reason enough to not pull the plug too fast, or stop digging. Never in a million years would I have thought Tehran!? : Unfortunately, the way things are going, a trip there could redefine "extreme skiing."

Plus, this restores my faith that not EVERY pic is faked... unless someone pops up to prove that all the snow pics were falsely dubbed into Iranian tourist site.

The Powder article about skking in Iran was good and I remember it saying that they can get alot of snow. What is funny though is that your mind immediately associates Iran with sand and hot rather than snow or at least mine does.

Tehran is only prohibitive if you have a US passport.

It's a nice town, actually. I spent time there on the way to Isfahan, which is one of the most beautiful cities in the world (the whole city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site).

But, Tehran didn't even occur to me as a guess for that pic because I was only there in the summer and I was so keyed in on whether it was SLC or not and, well, who think of Tehran on this board? As for SLC, I didn't see the domineering LDS office building, but figured it might have been another view.

That was fun. If that was a troll, we could use a few more trolls like that once in a while.

Well, thanks for all your guesses. My friend is going to tell me in a few days where the picture is from. He emailed it to me and some friends and asked us to guess, if we got it right we would buy us a round. And if we got it wrong we would buy him one heh. And nope, it's not 'troll bait' even though it was my first post. And I didnt reply because my laptop was stolen and i've been having little access to internet until my new one comes in. :P

I prefer the diesel-powered chairs that run the resort when the town is blacked-out. Iran has more oil than nuclear energy anyway. (or- so much as I know.) but you're right, damn that george bush. damn any president who didn't have a passport before he entered office.

Thanks for solving the mystery. I would never have thought that Tehran was as beautiful as some of those photos look, or that it got so much snow (or any, for that matter). Our horizons have been broadened .
