Salt Lake??? Just a guess. I've only been through there a few times. Nice pic!

Looks like it.

looks like someone photoshoped New York into a Colorado mountain pic!

if there were more smog, I'd say santiago. it has sky scrapers inside a valley surrounded by 14K foot peaks/glaciers.

I also want to say someplace around Nagano.

It could be photoshopped, but I have seen cities that large in mountains that large.

It also reminds me of Vancouver and the Canadian Rockies, especially #17.

I'd say Salt Lake too.

It's not Salt Lake City.

Somewhere in S. America?

Rare to see snow in Vancouver like that.

It's not SLC and it's not Nagano.

So, where is it?

Despite the opinions of the naysayers, it sure looks like Salt Lake City to me as well.

samurai mentioned Santiago, Chile as a possibility. This is Santiago, with as much snow as I could find. Obviously from a different angle, and not sure if I can pick out matching skyscrapers (nor have I tried very hard...)??

I thinnk it's SLC too, taken from the Avenues/Capitol Hill area. The 1st set of mountains look like Mt. Van Cott above the UofU, and the sharper peak behind looks like Mt Olympus.

Sorry to break this to you, but the Cdn Rockies are at least 500 miles away from Vancouver!

The mountains near Calgary can only be seen on the distant horizon (they're not really that close), but I'd have to agree with the SLC guesses.

Actually, I've lived in the region for over 21 years now, and it snows to the oceanfront an average of twice each year. But the cameras have to be ready quickly, because it often melts away down there by afternoon!

I'm guessing Santiago, Chile.

Denver, Colorado

Oooops, my bad. What are the mountains just north of Vancouver? The posted picture reminds me of the image remaining in my little brain from the deck of a ferry, just south of Vancouver this summer. :

Vancouver and Whistler: Coast Mountains

And I agree: waaaay too much snow on the ground for Vancouver.

The architecture looks all wrong, but I'll guess Torino.

Salt Lake City.
Salt Lake doesn't have near that many tall buildings.

I'd say this is the closest guess. The mountains look alot like the wasatch, but there aren't that many tall, tall buldings in SLC. Did I see the twin towers in there?

I'm guessing this is a troll and even I fell for it. Why else would someone with a name like mikecontest come on here and do a first post(and only post) about something like this and then not post again?

i feel stupid to have fallen for it. Anyone know of any reason I shouldn't close the thread?
Because it's not disrupting anyone's life?
Even if it's troll bait, it's fun seeing everyone's guesses.

I don't think the first photo is Anchorage, but this is what I thought of when I first saw that shot.
