New EC Ski: Hot Rod Nitrous?

So I'm looking for a do-it-all east coast ski, and I have about $500 to spend. I'm 29, about 6'1 190, pretty aggressive, like bumps (occasionally), trees, and going fast down groomers.

I was leaning toward a 70mm waist ski, and an 05-06 Volkl 5 star is available; but now I'm thinking of going wider for the occasional powder day and my annual trip West. I'm thinking that maybe I wouldn't lose too much when carving on hard-packed or ice with 78mm. Am I right?

A new 178 Hot Rod Nitrous is available in my price range. Anyone have any input? Thanks a lot....

I have the Nitrous in 186cm. I use them for my all mountain ski when there is fresh snow. Also it is great in crud it is like a bulldozer. There are some things it does not do well, it is not so great on groomers at speed it does not carve that great and has a big turn radius and slow from edge to edge and not very good in the bumps. But again they are long so a shorter ski might be much better.I also have some older 05 Nordica Speedmachines 14 in 178 that I pretty much ski on all the time, great carving ski. I have got some Atomic Izor's 9.7 in 177 but have not tryed them yet.

look at the Hot Rod Modified in a 178 or 170

I think the nitrous is a bit more in line with what you're looking for than the modified. I am on the Nitrous in Michigan and get most anything I want out of it. Granted, I have a quiver of skis that allows me to pick and chose according to conditions and desired skiing of the day(Nastar, bumps, crud, playing with the kids in the park). If I were told I could only keep one ski of my current quiver, it'd be the nitrous.
