Gender: Male
Height: 172 cm
Weight: 150 lbs
Age: 19
Skier Level: 7-8
Skiing Speed: Medium-Fast
Racing: No
Mountain Most Frequented: Gore Mountain
Other Mountains: West Mountain (Glens Falls, NY), Killington, Whiteface, Bristol
Conditions Enjoyed: I really enjoy longer runs on trails of moderate steepness. I also enjoy taking little side trails, you know those little windy paths you see on the side of trails that often exit with a little jump. I prefer more narrow trails, rather than wide face type trails.
Conditions Avoided: I hate moguls and very steep trails.
Current Skis: 158cm Elan Reactor PSX Cap - Red

First off, I have been skiing since I was 5 or 6. I've always been an active skier, growing up in the Adirondack's of New York, we had a local mountain, West Mountain, in town and Gore is only 45 minutes away. Now that I'm 19, in college, done growing and ready to get into skiing a bit more, I am ready to purchase new skis, boots, bindings and other stuff, that can last me a good while, but want to make sure I do it right. I currently like my Elan skis, but know they are low grade and have gotten their use the last 4 years anyway. I've also begun to learn a lot after reading here about important factors in a ski, something I had no idea of when I bought these Elan's, so I'm sure they are not the perfect skis for my skiing style. My friend who's a member here recommended I register and I hope I've included all the information you need to help, but if other information is needed, please let me know. Lastly, thanks in advance to anyone who replies!

After doing some more research and talking to my friend who recommended I come here, I'm currently looking at the following ski.

Salomon XW Blast + Z12
(162 length, 124/74/106, 12.9 radius, 1810g Ski + Interface (g/ 1/2 pair) )

Considering I have a 158 length now, going up to a 162 should be a nice jump, but anything more than that, such as 165-175 I really think I'd like to avoid, I enjoy a shorter ski.

What do you guys think? Does anyone here ski this make? According to my info above, would this serve my purposes well?

Thanks everyone!
