Need some Vail advice on parking & rentals

So we're going to Vail on Wednesday, with Thursday being first day skiing. Since Presidents' Day weekend is this weekend, we definitely want to try and ski as much as Vail as possible on Thursday, and possibly Friday (we're staying in Avon, so we may ski Beaver Creek Friday). The only hitch is that we get into Denver pretty late -- 7pm -- Wednesday and I have conceded that we might not get to rent skis until Thursday morning .

My question: should we hang around Avon until the ski shops open and rent there, then drive to Vail and park and ski? Or is it worth it to get up real early, park in Vail and rent there as soon as shops open? And if we go to Vail, how early would we need to go to get parking, like in one of the parking structures or something?

Thanks.

You can setup your rental ahead of time with Vail Ski Tech, and go pick them up (located @ Lionshead) 1st thing Thursday AM.

Have fun. I'm headed out there on 3/1

So how early is First Thing?

Thanks for the reply. I know there is a parking structure right there at Lionshead on that circle. Do we need to show up at 7am? Before? Or is it a little more laid-back than that? I know the shops don't open until 8 or so, but we don't mind killing time.
