How come you never hear snow stoke for upstate New York. I hear Oswego is looking at a 100 inch accumulation. :

Oh, its flat

Check out my post on the surf at Waimea bay (on Oahu's north shore). They are experiencing 30 foot plus surf thanks to a massive system spinning out in the gulf of Alaska. There are three separate localized low pressure systems that are going retrograde up there. And a major tropical flow (pineapple express) heading for the cental US West coast.

Conditions are right for a righteous dump over most of the central Sierras and Rockies including California, Utah and Colorado.

Its going to be interesting to see how this develops.

From what I saw Petoskey and Houghton & Hancock have been getting serious lake effect the last few days. What gives up there?

Viking, the 3 low pressure centers look like small hurricanes out there. There remains a ridge near Utah that is allowing the moisture to flow inland, and the low pressures are spinning colder air in. I think that's a good thing.

Kirkwood web site is currently unresponsive, I suspect a power outage due to the storm.

You mean people live in Petosky? :

I just did and you are right it is snowing a bit. Good thing the temps dropped a bit. Sunday it rained and it had a bit of a spring feel. Dirty snow from the trees, sloppy and like having sandpaper on your skis. The one good thing was you stay in the falline and you can pretty much straightline anything and not get going too fast . Big arcing turns .
Nice to see you are getting some good dumpage . May it pile high and keep on piling up . You guys are so due.

Don't forget Manton, Mesick and Mancelona...

Seriously, we drove the daughter up to Interlochen along M-37 a couple of years ago. I grew up there, and it was totally amazing, like nothing had changed in 30 years. You went past a welding supply store, a log cabin bar, a canoe livery, a burnt out patch of woods, a trailer, a convenience store, and then the whole cycle repeated. I can just imagine that stretch in the winter.

Sort of makes you wonder how people get to all those bars out in the middle of nowhere with no public transportation....

As much as I hate to say this, I'm not so sure that Utah is ready to bow out of here yet. Long range forecasts still have Utah as the driest place in all the land from what I can gather.

Go out there and enjoy yourself and leave your no snow attitude at the door!!
