Drive time from Breckenridge to DIA Monday morning

I know its weather and traffic related but can someone give me a rough idea of how much time to allow to get from Breckenridge to Denver airport Monday morning. Flight leaves around 10:30 so will need to allow for car return, etc.

Thanks!

It's about 2 hours from Breck to DIA, but with your flight time you may want to add an extra 20 min or so to account for rush hour traffic and rental car return.

Add a few minutes if there is any new snow.

Thanks uncle Louie, thats what I was thinking but wasn't sure about rush hour traffic. Are you going to be in the neighborhood this weekend?

We do the drive from Keystone to Denver most Monday mornings. Traffic is surprisingly light. Bogs down a bit near 1-70 and Federal. It takes us about 90 min to downtown, so 2 hours sounds about right from Breck to DIA.

UL just landed back in North Carolina and sends his best! If I continue to kick this lousy cold and cough, I'm happy to make some turns w/you and Jo on Friday! I won't have my dog-walker on Friday so I'm limited to a half-day. Travel safely--and it's snowing here!

Thanks for the information everybody. Nancy, we don't into DIA until around 10:30 tomorrow night and with the way the temps sound for Friday we probably won't be out there for first chair. Hopefully we can hook up in the afternoon.

After a couple of years of not having a place in Summit were are just about to finish construction on a new one. I've been toying with the idea of not going home Sundays but getting up early Monday morning. How does this work for you? I'd be on somewhat of a schedule as my son has to be at school by 7:30. It's normally two hours to Monument with no traffic, can you get around 470 to 25 at 6-630 without problems? thanks

I have a condo in Summit and live in Parker. I usually go up Thursday afternoon or Friday mid-day. No traffic. Definitely avoid Sat/Sun 2pm-6pm going home. If you leave Sunday leave before 2pm or after dinner. You can check http://www.cotrip.org to see traffic before you go.

I haven't left that early on a Monday yet. My son isn't in public school yet, so if we leave Monday, we usually leave 8-9am. Not much traffic then. I've seen rush hour traffic on 470 going to the tech center but I think it usually gets bad around 7:30. Depending on conditions I'd estimate you would get delayed 30-60mins at that time in the morning. 6am-6:30 should be ok.

We just did this on the 29th. Weather perfect. From ski in ski out house on snowflake lift. Left breck at 6 am, zoom down hill, all the way to I 25, no traffic. east of I 25 slow, small stop and go, no big deal. Stopped for gas to fill up rental car, in rental car return lot just before 8. In airport 8:15. Get to line for security 8:20. Security line term A very slow, all of them were, as someone from other security entrance came to our line, complaining of length. 25-30 min. to get thru line. In term. A at little after 9. Flight out at 9:55. Biggest worry IMO would be security line variable. My .02

For future reference, if you do not use the main security, but the one at the catwalk to concourse A, you can often, not always, get through faster.

Matt, Thats the one we were on, the catwalk, and as I mentioned but was not clear, people right behind us walked up from the main security because the line was so bad there. Probably just bad time of day, but was glad we had time to spare.

You are right. At certain times it is just slow. However, it seems to be getting better, or I have just been luckier.

We usually do not leave that early. Typically we leave Summit by 7:00 AM. Last year we had an exchange student that had to be at East High in Denver by 8:30 so we’d leave by 6:30. It was never a problem. We stop at 2 Brothers Deli in Idaho Springs for a breakfast sandwich and coffee refill. We call at the Empire exit. Alta, the waitress has our number in her phone. I love it when she picks up and says “Hi Kima” Run in grab our sandwich and go.
