A happy Scott Mission owner...On a recent trip to Utah (Christmas holiday week) I purchased a pair of Missions-my first skis with a waist over 76mm. I demoed many skis at Alta one day and I really liked these skis. I skied about 5 days on them in mostly packed powder & hard snow conditions...unfortunately I had only one day with any substantial fresh snow-they were great that day!
One of my days was at Solitude. The surface on most of the mountain was pretty rock hard-similar to current conditions lately in the East, minus any exposed ice. The Missions held very well. I was comfortable on steep terrain that had no loose snow. They surprised me! (I ski on a pair of Fischer RX9 in NY/VT-I appreciate good edge hold, especially this season)
I was wondering if they held well because they were brand new. I have not had a chance to try them again since the snow cover here is so lame this year...I read a lot about them potentially being an everyday ski and I hope to ski them more in February. One surprise with this ski was that they were great in moguls, somewhere I usually don't go. I'd love to hear other people's experience with this ski.
