LCS, are you in agreement that we need to get back on track with our new teaching method? How did HS derail this strategic planning?

HS, not sure where you go next with this, but before you do could you please give a bit more notice so people can go ahead and place wagers on thread longevity? Actually, I would have lost money both yesterday and on the 800-poster here, so on second thought maybe just go ahead and surprise us. :

SNO,,er Trekchick, this thread in its second incarnation definitely should be continued. In fact, I think that Ott should be given an honorary day to post the wonderful original story at SkiDiva.com as well!

I think that Ott's post should be set up in a separate thread here at Epic and all else deleted after that post, that is drift. Ott's story was wonderful and the punning that follows is quite excellent. But then I love word play.

Ladies, I see you are having fun with the tales of my youth, I like that. I presume that the SkiDivas forum is for ladies only, but feel free to cite my musings there if you wish, or anywhere else as long as they are kept intact.

Cheers... ...Ott

Yes, like that one. I had read it previously, but is as good the second time around. Definitely a more innocent time decades past.
(at least in Ott's neck of the woods)

As my wife, who shall remain, etc. etc., looked clueless at six high school kids rolling in the snow laughing uncontrollably, a merciful bystander took it upon himself to explain the English colloquialism she just uttered.

For the rest of the hour, every time she addressed the class: “Boys…” , the kids shouted in unison “YOU GOT TO SKI ON YOUR BALLS” .

My wife, poor thing, who shall remain nameless to spare her the agony, came to me with quivering lips and announced that she was through with ski instructing.

Suffice it say that for the next twenty-five years, my wife who shall remain nameless and whom I love dearly, became one of the finest and most popular ski instructors in our school.

Von dieser Geschichte nehme ich an dass Ihre Frau wohl Eiern hatte.

Ott, TheSkiDiva's love you!

trekchick, that's nice to know, I adore women.

Viking kaj, good to read some of my native language but we ought to stick to English so that the readers here could get your question if my wife had balls and my answer that when we have a quarrel I suspect she does

Trans: Agreed the difference between having eggs (translators note: the German slang for testicles) and balls is small but important. But be careful on the soccer field if you don't know the difference !

My wife is a Swede (actually from Skaane so more like half Danish), we often have small language issues.

The comment on women and disagreements I understand well. There is something special in the character of nordic women in this regard.

Trans: It should have been "ski on the balls of your feet", unfortunately something was lost in translation that made for a good story.

But in a disagreement with my wife I am convinced that your assertion is probably correct.

Trans: From your story I have to assume that your wife has eggs (trans note: German slang for testicles, a sad attempt at a further play on words)

Trekchik, I got a PM with a link to a thread on SkiDiva.com where some of my stories are linked to and I am so happy that you Divas enjoyed my reminiscing of long ago, I especially enjoyed SkiDiva's hypothetical scenario of what happened to me and to Sigi. First, I corresponded with her a couple of times until she told me she married my best friend ,grrrr>.

As for me, I became a photojournalist, (see: http://home.neo.rr.com/ottmar )
I retired at 60 and have done nothing but enjoy life. My wife Ann and I have been married for 52 years, she is a super skier and a level2 certified instructor who taught for 25 years.

I couldn't post at SkiDivas but please tell them I am am sure there are many Sigis there. I adore women in general but women skier in particular, they are so beautiful.

I'll attach a couple of pictures of us so you can see what we look like, it was shot several years a go in Breckenridge and skiing in Taos, still on straight skis.

True Bavarians?

Hey Ott, what does a true Bavarian wear under his leather pants?

Yesterday it was skiing . . I knew that because I was on the snow.

Today it's NOT skiing, because I am on the extranet.

And likewise you are not skiing

Well, they not only locked the thread, but banned me. I'm not sure what the deal is over there. A few people were giving good advice..........

It is funny HS I at first thought you would be thrown under the bus over there. All the comments I saw were pretty civil and constructive. I have never seen you ski and most likely never will. Yet from what Phil has said, you are better then that clip shows
Why I would takes Phil's word I don't know?
That is a funny place over there. Obviously They don't want to get the Flying Monkeys to distributed by outside influances.

Well, I joined again, was banned, and then joined again, and was IP banned.

What a lovely pack of smurfs over there...........you know, I was actually trying to give them a chance, but they wouldn't let me. I didn't think anybody liked the PSIA less than I do, but those guys are tops in that department.

What's next????

If they had some camps here on the east coast, I would be sure to crash one.........

save your pennies collect old beer cans from the side of the road to sell. steal a few dollars from your girlfriend. before you know it you will have nice little stash of money. You have all summer to put away a few dollars and get your self into a real steeps camp. They have a great program at Snowbird. There are programs at Jackson and maybe squaw valley? look around you will find one that fits. If nothing else you will be able to put your skills to the test againest the best. Does it really matter what system these people teach? at some point it is pure skiing. a fifty degree chute with dog leg that narrows then opens really doesn't care what teaching sytem you were thought. It just wants to humble you in the worse way.

Yeesh. Those guys take everything way too seriously. After all, this is just skiing, not life we are talking about...

WAIT A MINUTE, WHAT DID I JUST SAY...

Let's all get banned...

Real Skiers? Hmmn, an oxymoron if I ever heard one. When I hear someone is doing PMS I try to get out of the house quick before my butt gets chewed. Never found anything over there that seemed worth commenting on. I may have to go back on that just so I can be banned. After all, I would be in good company.

Don't forget, in my book to qualify as a level 9 and above you have to be able to wave at the mountain goat on the way down and have a good time doing it.

Where is Harald from anyway, Norway? Or worse yet, Switzerland? It could explain a lot (anal retentive to a degree that may require irrigation to remove blockages in the cerebellum...)
