Wax irons & temperatures

My old trusty flat base (no holes) clothes iron is starting to give up. Since I coach J3,4 & 5's and am on the road during the winter with them,I purchased a SWIX travel iron. It would not get higher that 120*f. I sent it back & got a replacement that also would not get hotter than 125*f. The instructions say it should opereate between 100*c/212*f & max 160*c/320*f. Anyone else have trouble with the smaller travel irons? What is the normal temp for most wax?

Any recomendations for good quality iron?

Thanks,
Scoth V

I have sold a few hundred of these with no complaints. It is the same iron as the TOKO wax mouse; it has a thick sole plate and goes up to 410F.

Thanks Doctor D,

I may be calling about the iron on Monday.

Any other opinions?

I bought Dr D's iron and really like it. That has a very thick base to hold temperature, and 800 watts of power. He sells it for half what everyone else does.
