Big toe- when to make more room??

New speedmachine 14s and they are great, been on them twice and fit so far is excellent. I bought them small measured 29 went with 27 so I new that some work was inevitable. I need some room lengthwise for my big toe, question is should I ski them more (only been on them 2 days) first and as things pack out I will naturally get more space. Yes nail is trimmed as short as it can go and I wear super thin socks.

ski some more.

boots will keep packing out for the first 5-10 days..
also make sure that your heel feels like it is all the way in the back of the boot. Hell too far forward = toes too far forward.

then if you need more room punch the shell

When gangrene sets in, it's definitely time to expand the toes box.

When my boots are new I'll generally hold off on any bootwork for at least 5-10 days EXCEPT for the toe box. There isn't too much padding there. The boot fitter can cut the liner at the toe to give you some more room if you're gunshy about stretching the boot but that could lead to cold feet. In my experience, if the big toe is hitting the front then the boot needs some work. Ask they to go slowly and cautiously. I'd much rather return several times then have them get too exuberant on the first try and cause irreparable harm.

1. Do you have a footbed? When the foot pronates it gets longer and wider by as much as a full size in lot of people.
2. Have your fitter stretch the liner so that it actually fills the shell. Almost every liner (even those with neoprene toe boxes) is short-lasted by anywhere from 5 mm to 1 cm.
3. Heel lift. This'll pull your foot back and pull your toes back a bit. A little goes a long way.

If none of those work, then start shell modification.
