We were at Spirit Mountain in Duluth MN today and about 3:00 notice a bunch of Ski Patrols and snowmobiles heading for one of the runs. Turns out a 28 yr old skier had lost a ski and hit a tree. Apparently he died from head trauma. He wasn't wearing a helmet.

(From the Duluth Northland News)

Police got the call for help at about 3:15 Saturday afternoon.

When they arrived, a 28 year old man was unconscious on the ground, bleeding from his ears and mouth.

Duluth police say the man, who's believed to be from the Twin Cities, somehow lost control while skiing, and ended up slamming into a tree.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.
