A Fond (eh, so-so) Farewell to Epicski (x-posted w/ the supporter's forum)

Thread Starter
Unfortunately, it is time to bid this little piece of cyberspace adieu. When it gets to the point that disagreements with board policy, and make no mistake, the board is the heart and soul of this community, cannot be discussed openly with members of the community without raising the hackles of the censors and bringing down the wrath (or threat thereof) of bannishment, then the value of the board is lost. The argument (really the demand) that disagreements with the moderators be addressed to them, as opposed to the members of the community who may well share the same concerns (as an example, read the thread "Disappointed..."), lessens the input of the community as a whole. The only reason for this, as far as I can tell, is to assuage an ego or two. But then again, its their (?) board and they acn make the rules and ban whatever speech they wish. although, I do wonder about the applicability of California's doctrine of freedom of speech in publicly accessed, though privately owned, places and how that would apply to a website which is not only accessible to, but solicits business from California residents....hmmmm

While Epicski certainly thrives with the ESA and the Gathering and assorted meetings, I do not think it is a coincidence that the vitality of the board is dwindling. I come here daily, usually more than once, and see interesting threads sitting days without response...not what would have happened in the old days.

Well, in any event, my leaving is no big deal, and frankly, this post is probably more than just a little ego centric and drama queenesque on my part. Mea culpa.

If any one wants to meet up on the North Shore of Tahoe, you can contact me at TGR; drop by, the maggots don't bit (at least not very hard). And since the Gathering will take place in my backyard, I'll probably drop in. Ryan STILL owes me that burger; I want to buy Fox a drink (but not Bushmills); I want to see if Cirque can ski on anything over a 150; and, of course, the Red Sox still suck.

Oh, one last thing...##########################.

Sorry to see you go. BTW, I share many of your concerns.

Did you consider hiring yourself competent legal representation?

I'll buy ya a virtual beer over at "that other place", or a real one if I manage to make it down to Tahoe...

What a shame, although I understand where you are coming from irul. (I wonder if this thread will survive).

I agree with Irul's complaints, and my interest has dwindled with this site because of such. I find this board less engaging as some others find it more, er, um, comfortable.

The disciples of Landrew seem to triumph and spew vanilla platitudes, and yet they only convince themselves; I will not be absorbed! Yeah, that's it! I'm like indigestible crude fiber in a sea of glutonous starch. Viva la revolucion!

Sorry to see you go but I know what you mean. However, MLB sucks as do the Yankers and Dred Sux. I'll give you a shout out at TGR whenever I get to Tahoe, if you can handle skiing with a gaper Stiller fan.

.....what a drama queen

I want to take this opportunity to thank irul&ublo, as I see he's watching, for his use of the word 'assuage'. I've improved my english.
