The frustration from my end is the seemingly double standard of:
"You can pay to support epic ski and offer discounts to supporters, provide swag, auction materials and volunteer tons your time and expense, but if you say anything about your stuff, we'll throw up a flag or a sideways cheap shot."
Nothing like ruining a great powder ski day buzz after a great fatherly breakthrough with a kid, to read yet another 'cheap shot' from another member in this thread
. It was simply the last straw. Where was the bias? The link to an absurdly overkill option was a joke.
: I thought Dr D's product solved the problem relative to the question as did the other options presented. I learned something, others that lurk and read learned something and who ever is interested, now has some other tidbits of info to make their own decisions.
Today I skied 'Squeaky Powder' (recent thread question I dodged) and was running great. I feel forbidden to let others know what works. If you want to keep spending more for performance or rec tools, techniques and wax because there's familiar names out there......go for it. If EpicSki as a group not going to buy stuff (and insult them) from commercial supporters who tell you directly about their very viable and beneficial stuff, alternative techniques, ideas & perspectives, especially since no one else will, then don't waste our time or money either.
Either do it or don't. If you do keep allowing commercial links, the link clearly indicates that the poster is in fact identified versus someone not identified always recommending stuff 'they like'......or is it stuff they sell or benefit from the sale?
Read this thread
and try to guess how much time was involved in this versus doing what would have benefited me and my real responsibilities versus the sales of welding rod, grip and some irons. BTW show me the bias versus an honest attempt to show others an alternative method than the status quo to save money and fix your gear easily yourself. Like I can retire on welding rod sales.
If it was about the money, this is an absolute waste of time and a very stupid business model. To eating sh*t after trying to contribute and be helpful is very insulting and getting real old.
FWTFIW $50 is a drop in the bucket of what my involvement here has cost me directly and indirectly.
