I've been clicking on Snowbird snow report periodically because they update ever 4 hrs or so. Does anyone know(and I've noticed this before)why the snow reported in last 24 and 48 hours keeps decreasing. This moening they reported 9 inches in last 24 hours. Next report was 6 inches. Now it's down to 4 inches in last 24/48 hrs. I don't get it.

Yeah, its hot out here. Everything is melting like crazy. Could be just hours and it's all gone.

My confusion relates to fact that the report is for inches fallen in 24/48 hrs not base shrinking which I could understand as snow settles.

Steve,

It's a rolling clock. If the repoprt shrinks 4 inches betwen the Noon and 4:00 pm reports, that's the amount of snow that fell yesterday in the time period....

It hasn't snowed recently

let me try to explain it this way.

If it snows 6 inches on monday and they report it at 1pm as 6" in last 24 hours.
If it snows 1 inch on tuesday they report it at 1pm as 1" in last 24 hours and 7" in the last 48 hrs.
If it does not snow on wednesday they report 0" in the last 24 hrs and 1" in the last 48 hrs at 1pm.
If it does not snow on thursday they report 0" in the last 24 hrs and 0" in the last 48 hrs at 1pm.

hope this helps.
