Nordica Nitrous, Doberman, or Volkl Race tiger

I have a store credit burning a hole in my pocket, so I went to the shop with a short list of skis I was interested in,
Nordica Speedmachine 16, or 14
Hot rod Afterburner
Volkl Race Tiger GS 170 ish length

They had as alternate options:
Nordica Doberman's
Nitrous
VolklRace tiger SL race stock 155(?)sorry so many figures running through my head, I'm not sure I remember everything.

They talked me into taking the VolklRace tiger Jr GS 163, which I feel is not right for me, so I'm going back to tell them its not me and I'm getting what I want.

So help me decide what I want.
Please

BTW
My stats:
130 lbs, 5'6", Strong legs, advanced skier.

HA! That racing bug is getting to you isn't it!!!
I think you'd have a ton of fun on a 170 Race Tiger.

Here's the dilema.
That is what I was going for but they don't have it in a 170
They have the GS in a 180, and a SL in a 150
I really don't think I want the SL, but I could be mistaken
Talk to me UP!

Dang that volklgirl!
Is all her fault!

The afterburners were available in 178(too big for me
I've demoed them and really liked them.
The Nitrous is a decent option since they don't have the afterburner in my length, and they do have that in 170.

The items in Red are not available for me in my size,
The speed machine not available at all at this store

The items in blue are the options they had that I would consider in exchange for my original short list

The only think I know for sure is that I don't want a Jr Race Tiger.

Talk to m'man Scott up at the Bahnhof. He might have a 170. He'll hook you up too.

Edit: just re-read and remembered the store credit... damn. What store? Brick wheels might trade inventory with Scott.

What I may do is get a decent ski for me to play on withmy store credit, then go talk to yo'man Scott and get myself a race ski.

In case you're wondering, I'm a chick who doens't mind having an extra ski or two in my quiver

I demoed the 06/07 volkl racetiger sl in a 165cm and this ski is a blast and a fantastic carver. I just picked up a pair and can't wait to use them. I have this years 06/07 volkl titanium allstar and this is the better carver hardpack ski and their a lot of fun. skipress ski review rated them the #1 ski period with perfect scores go to skipress. com and check out the review its right on
I think the 155cm would be perfect for you ,for reference I'm 208lbs .5'8" and can pretty much ski anything the 165cm for freesking really rips .Another great ski is the Nordica mach 3 power or the next model down the line.I don't know what your looking for exactly but I demoed the Nordica's and really liked them a lot but once I got on the Volkl I coudn't stop smiling. My other ski for snow conditions is a Atomic metron M-EX in a 175cm another great ski. Go for it !

TC,

Are you coming out to Crystal on Sunday? Let me know so I can throw the quiver in the car .

I'll have my Racetiger GS's 180 and my P60 SL's 155 if you'd like to try them (since I know your boot sole is close enough to mine to trade!). You may find the 180 GS is not quite such a handful as you may think, and the P60 SLs aren't that far off from the Racetiger SLs - at least you can get an idea.....

It's weird that I eally didn't like the Afterburner when everyone else seems to just love them : .

If you like the volkl racetiger gs ski (not the race stock) another excellent ski
look on the (atomic ski outlet )web site. They have great deals on closeout skis and great service, They currently have the racetiger gs for $349.00 with the ipt bindings , free shipping ,no tax in a 180cm and 185cm. Definetly try to speak with Nathen and tell him Rich the Powderkid sent you. I know he will do right by you

Dollars to donuts she gets the Nitrous.

See if you can swap the 178 Afterburner for a 170 with Scott? Heck, if you get the 178, I could swap you my 170s! Or pick up the Dobermans and have fun with the arcky-sparky!

Funny thing happened on the way to the ski slopes!

I settled for the nitrous because it intrigued me, I wasn't eager to get a race ski without getting exactly what I want because I tend to keep a race ski longer than other skis in my quiver.

So Saturday I went to the hill with the new sticks, and wouldn't you know it the Nordica demo tent was set up.
I demoed everything they had and found out that there are some great skis in the nordica line up and a few that left me feeling flat.
I also found out that the Nitrous ROCKS! Narrow enough to carve, agile enough to handle ice, and significant enough to get through the "chop" at the end of the day.
I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase, however because it's an addition to my quiver and not the main ski for me, it'll likely be for sale at the end of the season if anyone is interested.
Hey! What can I say, its what I do and who I am

Volklgirl, I'll be there for first chair Sunday Morning! Be there!

Nitrous is a great ski. What size did you get?

A little late

TC,

I was there on Sunday, but we were running a little late, so we didn't get there til 10ish. Parked right behind your car and skied with everyone else, but never did see you . And yes, I brought almost the entire quiver .

Glad you like the Nitrous.....what did you think of the Afterburner???

Totally agree. I'm 6'1", 155 lb, advanced, and loooove my 155cm Racetiger Race stock (do NOT take consumer model instead) 05/06 model. Awesome for short to med radius, and I even did some GS gates on them. Despite the short length they are rock solid at any speed on virtually any terrain. Also heard that 06/07s are even better than 05/06.
