I ski on Atomic SX:B5, just came back from two days of skiing at whiteface mountain in 1-2 degree weather. Was skiing on a brand new pair of SX:B5s, while new they can slice and dice ANYTHING. I was skiing a black run (top of the mountain) that had all snow blown off and felt like an ice ring, i was the only skier on that part and felt no trouble going down at all. The edges were holding on to the mountain as if glued, I was going down with a big smile because I couldn't believe the grip that my skis had. The confidence boost that these skis give you is unparalleled on anything i've skied on before, when you point them down from the top of the mountain you just know that they will hold when you start turning.
On the other hand my previous SX:B5s also performed stunningly while new but after about 6 days of skiing I felt a performance drop on the tracks that had icy hard surfaces that had all snow blown off. The edges did feel less sharp then on new skis, but again that was after 6 straight days of hard skiing.
Heres how my previous SXs ended up:
But I liked this ski so much that I got another pair
I dont know much about how to sharpen the edges on atomic skis, are there any special gadgets that i could buy to maintain the edges myself when they get dull?
