I saw that...Can anyone validate the coverage?

My skibud just bailed on me for a two day run up to Killington on Thursday and Friday. : He wants to go for one day at Hunter instead. Hunter doesn't look very good to me. Even giving it until Thursday it doesn't look promising.

I Don't really want to take that 6 to 7 hour drive to Killington alone, but if it keeps snowing......

From www.Weather.com

Killington Resort, VT

Base Depth: 18-22" New Snow: 5" Primary Surface: Packed Powder Last Report: 01/09/07 04:00 PM

Northeast
Regional Video

Parts of Upstate New York will see significant lake-effect snow overnight into Wednesday. One band of snow will extend south and southeast of Lake Ontario, thorough the northern suburbs of Syracuse. One to two feet of snow may fall in some locations. Another snow band will extend east of Lake Erie, well south of Buffalo. Twelve to eighteen inches of snow can be expected in these areas.
Much of the rest of the Northeast will see partly cloudy skies and chilly temperatures. Brisk northwesterly winds will make it feel even colder.
High temperatures will be close to mid-January averages with highs mostly in the 20s and 30s. Central and eastern Virginia will reach the 40s.

I hope these are true.

Killington must have been good because...

I made it up to Hunter on Thusday and it was spectaclar ! They made snow for three days, and recieved 5 inces of fresh. It was as good as any of the best days I've ever skied at Hunter (sans base). Killington must have rocked. Did anyone go ??

Killington was great for most of the week after a miserable start, but temps shot up along with rain last night and into today...

no suprise

I lived in that snow belt buffalo-rochester-watertown for 20 years. That precip part for that region is no suprise. Sadly, the moisture from it never makes it far enough east to hit the good ski areas in adk's or greens.
Everything eastward into the greens and whites is a crap shoot today and mon.

I'm about 20 minutes south of the Skyeship Gondola, and we got a dusting of snow in the night. Of course, things can vary drastically between here and up on the mountain, so it's hard to say what they got over at Killington. They're calling for 4-5 inches tomorrow, though.

I am starting to feel the need to ski again.

Rain here in PA and a busy week ahead. Plan on going up the next two weekends though.

Snowing hard in Stowe right now, it started around 6am.

Here in Troy we have "an ice event". It's fall on you A$$ type slick.

Killington seems to be getting snow right now. Stowe looks like a direct hit.

We were going to go to Jiminy but it r*ined all night. Jiminy sent a letter out to it's skiing network stating that they are dedicated to snowmaking and grooming.

"We will never give up, never give in"

The letter states: out of 134 resorts, 38 have yet to open, 40 more have closed temporarily. It sites inaccurate weather forecast problems with intense run off from r*in. The letter talks about their preparations for MLK weekend which is now. Another key weekend washed out.

I was looking at weather forcasts for Vermont and upstate NY. Vermont should get hit pretty good this week. It should be cold enough by Tuesday night to start making snow in the NY montains, with some natural snow likely.

I can't make it up to Vermont this week because of work obligations, I'll settle for another day trip to the NY region. I'm requesting a few weekends off over the next few weeks. I Hope to catch up with some of you all in Vermont for a few runs.

Keep the faith,
WW

I think you mixed up the forums your posting on.

Will be up next weekend to KMart. Honestly, not sure when I will be back to Stowe.
