# ski length

My K2’s are listed as 181cm and the Dynasters as 172’s but when I stand them together they appear to be the same length. What do I need to understand about the stated length?
9 cm should be like 3.5 inches...clearly visible
The k2s are twin-tipped, right? That'll eat some of the running length.
Take out a tape or piece of string and a ruler and see what length they measured. Possibilities include the following: length along bottom surface of ski from tip to tail, straight line length from tip to tail (chord length), height of skis when vertical, and running length = the length of surface in contact with ground.

length along bottom surface of ski from tip to tail,
K2=174 Dyn=172.72

running length
K2=161.3 Dyn=160

straight line length from tip to tail (chord length),
height of skis when vertical

both make no sense to me and these numbers seem strange.
thanks for taking a shot, though.
