I am just about to call in to work if we are open and if the need me and I come across this little gem.

While I don't work at Blue, news like that makes it tough to do this for a living sometimes.

The video clip of Blue is really sad.
I think the only one who is finding any pleasure at all about the closing of Blue is Phil

I'm thinking this is a way for us to find Phil a fault for our terrible ski season in the Midwest and East.

I believe the "Blue Mountain" that receives Phil's criticism is the one in Palmerton, PA - not the one in Ontario.

Yea, I caught that after I posted.
Even if our bad snow conditions aren't his fault, I'm going to blame him!

Of course the one in PA is also closed at this time. So both Blue Moutains are feeling pretty blue right now...

It looks pretty bad for the East in general. Long range weather looks like a crapshoot. Some models say no below normal cold at all until February as the Jet Stream looks like it wants to stay put. It supposed to cool down middle of next week but then the warm returns again over the weekend.

06-07 ------------ the ski season from hell :
It's 61 degrees. My windows are open and I'm wearing a t-shirt and barefoot. I was just outside and I was sweating. Birds are singing in the bushes. It's not only warm, but MUGGY, as it rained like a cow pissing on a flat rock all morning.:

Give me hell any day. At least in hell, the weather is supposed to be hot.

I'm leaving in the morning for Washington. Skis will be packed and waxed. None too soon, either, because Jeff wants to live.

The Daffodils are coming up and the Vineyards around here are doing all they can to keep the vines from budding.

It sucks that all of these mountains are closing !

Why does Phil hate blue ?? I think that Blue and Elk are the best as far as the Poconos goes. Blue (for me) is the highest verticle that's the shortest drive (2.5 Hrs), and I like Elk, but it's a 4 Hr drive, which rivals Hunter and Windham. So if I'm going to drive that far, I usually go to NY instead. I always try to get to Elk at least once though.

Phil, why the negative vibes for Blue ? Did they pull your pass for exeeding the speed limit on "the challenge" ? :

What areas do you like In PA ? (when there's snow......)

Heliskied in bottomless powder today...

Beric, take note. Those of us in the west blessed with good snow don't rub our eastern brethern's noses in our powder, or mock their bad fortune.
Its bad karma. Don't wish a pineapple express on yourself.

How bout, you guys can come west for some turns, then we can come visit you when the El Nino swings your way.

Gee, a post about 1,300 people getting laid off in Ontario.
Then I join the ranks later in the day.

Thanks for the sympathy and tell your mom I said hello.

There is still some glimmer of hope. The skiing weatherman(snowcountry.com) is forcasting a change to colder weather for the east after the middle of the month. That's some reason for optimism.
