The rest of my team is skiing in New Zealand, while I am still here trying to get my hip strong. Sometimes you have to turn things upside down to get a better perspective.

What's the problem with her hip?

Her hip(s) look fine to me! Thumbs Up

This thread confirms my suspicion that SUPs were invented for the sole purpose of showing off parading beach bodies.

They are second rate to other watercraft in every other respect.

Just think of them as a balance board on water. Good core workout, too, if done properly.

Spoken by someone who's been SUP'ing a total of three times.

P.S. I have no problems with beach bodies on parade.  ;-)

 1)  Displacement hulls, either for flatwater paddling or for fishing,

2)  Downwinders (really cool if involved on logistics), and

3)  Mushy days, particularly almost flat days, at uncrowded beaches,

can all be great uses.  Endangering people at more-crowded beaches though = no good.

OK, you two are taking this a little too seriously maybe.

It's a bit funnier if you consider /who/ would want to invent a SUP, in a world that already has flat bottom skiffs, deck awash duck boats, pirogues, jon boats, 1-fistmele clearance kayaks, surfskis, inflatable kayaks, sit on top kayaks, fishing kayaks, canoes, surfboards, windsurfers, kayak sails, kayak kites, beach canoes and an unnameable number of other task-optimised water craft types.

Answer: the waterman brother of the guy who gave us yoga pants.

Yoga pants are a good way to transition back to Mancuso. :-)

Yoga pants are nice, but...

"It's hard to recreate the ever-changing ground that comes at you as you ski," she says. "But on a stand-up board you're constantly tipping and balancing and having to make small, quick adjustments. It improves your reaction time and balance."
