I had a guide day at Copper today, so off I went this morning. The storm chased me up the mountains. The snow started good and got better all day. We pulled it in at 2 so we could try to get home by 5pm (yeah, right!). We pulled into the street here about 9pm. More on that when I download the pics.

There was 4-6" at Copper. 2 feet in my driveway outside Boulder. It's likely to dump at many Front Range areas over the next day, and those on this side (East) of the Divide are likely to get pounded. Thank God! We need the water out here on the plains! And it's going to help the base, too. But it's playing havoc with Christmas travel plans for those coming to Colorado (including my mom, who is going to miss Christmas with her grandkids this year ).

You're a maniac! I can't believe you actually made it up there and back in one piece.

Today Winter Park is reporting 21" and Eldora 24". All the other mountains didn't really get much out of this storm.

Our relatives are stuck at the Atlanta airport until Saturday. Amazing how a little bit of snow can shutdown Denver .

Definite upslope from the southeast. Apart from the people who should not have been out driving what they were driving (like the guy in his 198x BMW 5 series stuck on the ramp to 104th from 36), it really wasn't that bad.

But, I did have to plow the last block to my house:


The Subaru really did work like a plow:




The back porch gives you an idea of the snow...



...as does the front porch...



It'd be great to be at Winter Park today. But you would have had to have been there yesterday! You're not going anywhere today... The typical upslope reports reign. The closer to the divide the resort is on the other side, the more snow they got. Copper is reporting 5", for instance, and it is still snowing there...

I saw that they closed Berthoud pass - that's rare. Anyone up at Winter Park today must be loving life - wish it was me!

Instead I'm sitting here looking out the window at my 3 kids playing in the snow and my wife shoveling our driveway. It really sucks to be a gimp right now.

Good point regarding snow for east and plains Steve, awful dry to date.

Your post sounded similar to a number of folks who would call into 850 KOA last eve describing their time consuming return from summit locations...say...maybe it WAS YOU I heard...

I didn't call KOA, but I did tune it in when we hit the STOPPED traffic on US 36 before Sheridan. Turns out that was a result of the... ummm... less than knowledgeable people trying to pull off at Sheridan and not be able to make it up the slope. Pretty interesting, actually.

So, can you see the pics in the thread, now? Or do you have to go to the album link?

nice shots, Steve. I'm guessing we only got about 2 feet out here, but there's drifts in the common areas of my condos over 6 feet (I'm about ½ mile from King Soopers).

Really like the blue sky we're getting now, tho' Boulder still looks clouded in. Should be great work day tomorrow, if I can only get there.

It's finally stopped snowing here in Highlands Ranch. It really snowed this morning - heavy. Our snow total jumped to almost 3'. We're just passed Boulder now.

Well, when you get dug out from those snow flurries you're having trouble with up there and the sun comes out, it'll have to be as spectacular as it was today here. A bluebird Colorado day, all the trees laden with snow, snowcapped peaks and cold, dry powder....it's starting to feel a lot like Christmas!!

Freshies and skate skiing on corduroy make for excellent attitude adjustments.
